+Pac-Lander
Hello all! I've read and received conflicting information on this subject, so thought to throw it out to this very knowledgable fan base. Some sites/people have said that Lynx games will work with any Lynx, and are not region dependent, where other sites/people have stated the exact opposite. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks very much in advance! Kind regards, Aaron
Trew
I can confirm there's no regional difference. My collection contains games from Japan, the US and Europe and they all work on all my (many) Lynxes.
aminor00
The Lynx has a built in screen and no facility to output to a TV so the PAL/NTSC debate is meaningless.I personally have used Japanese releases of Klax and Slimeworld in my UK Lynx so I believe it is NOT region locked. Atari 1040 STFM with Blitter, 20MB HDD and SM125 monitor, 2* Atari Jaguar, 7* Atari Lynx (inc 1 with McWill mod) ... And as many games as I can get away with!
TrekMD
I have games from the US, Europe and Japan. They all work fine. The system has its own screen, so it should not matter.
Level42
How can a system with a built in screen be region specific ? Vectrex isn’t either. PAL and NTSC are TV broadcasting systems. They only play a role with consoles and computers which BITD had to produce a PAL/NTSC on an external screen like a TV. people saying there are regional systems/cartridges when it comes to the Lynx do not know what they are talking about. No, it's a good question to ask, as I'm sure that there are others who are new to the system, and are unsure if they can play it in their countries, and who haven't read the FAQ. No judgment from me here.

The Nintendo 3DS has two built-in screens and does have a region lock. These days it has less to do with TV systems and more with licensing, marketing and not letting users take advantage of local price disparities.
