gilsaluki #3 Posted November 16, 2020 I recall Kay-Bee Toys and Electronic Boutique has large bins full of sharply discounted games for sale in the early-to-mid 90s. We did not appreciate it at the time. Most of us had limited space to store all those goodies. For that matter, space is still limited.
Rogerpoco #4 Posted November 16, 2020 Where I grew up(Lake City, Fla), there was a convenience store chain, S&S-in the very late 80's, they had bins of 2600 games that couldn't possibly have been more than 5$. Seems like I remember some companies represented more than others, US Games, Vidtech, but even as a kid, and as oblivious to $ as I am now, I just remember thinking they were "giving them away". retroeight #5 Posted November 17, 2020 These were prices from the 80's. Ames was a department store chain and I remember buy a lot of games there. Kaybee was 2 hours from my house in Bangor, Maine and i grabbed a lot from there as well. Got Guardian there. Ames also had all the Imagic games right after they went belly up. lloyd
NISMOPC #6 Posted November 17, 2020 I bought a ton of games from a local Pharmacy (I think it was Revco) for $0.25 to $0.75 in the late 80's early 90's. Unfortunately, my brother ended up with the unit and all of our games many many years ago and has "misplaced" it. Would love to see what all we had one of these days. He's a legit packrat, so my guess is it's in his basement behind some stuff. I have since then built myself a massive (to me) collection of Atari 2600 and 8 bit systems (and games), but still curious what all games we had.
+Special Teams #7 Posted November 18, 2020 I was managing a Musicland store in 1984 and we had all the 2600 games in a bin at the front of the store for under $5. They still weren't selling so that Halloween I gave them away to the mall trick-or-treaters.
