How good is the Suntron PS-100 power supply?

I turned up a Suntron PS-100 (model DV-512CM) Commodore 64 power supply.  It is a sealed unit, similar to the original Commodore bricks.  Does anyone know how reliable or safe this unit was?  I am assuming some amount of degradation with age, but I figure it at least these fail without down-stream killing it will be safe to put into service.

I believe Suntron may be the original manufacturer, and that they supplied to both Commodore(C64) and Atari(XL/XE).

The C64 version uses a custom case with C= logo, while the Atari version(commonly called the INGOT) uses the same case as the Suntron version with a different output pinout. The pinout on the Suntron label is compatible with the C64.

Both the C64 and INGOT DV-512CM versions are well known for failing over-voltage and damaging computers, I would think that the Suntron version would have the same issue.
