retrorussell
Hey gang! You ever notice moments on TV or movies where someone is playing a game and the sounds you hear supposedly coming from the game are CLEARLY NOT the sounds from the actual game-- they either belong to another game or are just MADE UP game sounds! Stock ones often used incorrectly are from Atari 2600 Donkey Kong (Mario footsteps) or Atari 2600 Pac-Man's death. What incorrect sounds have you noticed, in which shows/movies/commercials/etc.? I think all the games in the 80s show SILVER SPOONS had made-up sounds, due (as is commonplace in such occurrences) to licensing issues.
+GoldLeader
Quick general statement. Seems like I hear Donkey Kong for 2600 all the time as a go-to set of sound effects for playing video games. Seems like they'll add in other sounds like Lasers if it's a space game etc. When did I last hear it? Good question. Possibly on Two and a Half Men, but not sure really...
Tales from the Game Room
My Mom watches "Highway to Heaven" a lot, and there is an episode where the stars of the show are in an arcade, and you can clearly hear the music from the Atari 260 version of Pac-Man playing in the background.
