Frozone212 #51 Posted April 17, 2021 Elevator action for me. I like the concept, the ducking enemies are annoying however I beat duck tales 1, working on two I LOVE Deja Vu (forgot the other one in the mansion) and don't mind Jaws at all. fun little game, but that last segment, gah! let's see..what else? Adventure island series Mario Journey to Silius Contra and Super C Star wars empire strikes back (the snowspeeder sequence is actually really fun) i'm sure there are other action games, but none at the moment Wheel of fortune Jeopardy and lastly Double Dare
+adamchevy #52 Posted May 14, 2021 Current favorite is Micro Mages. It’s a blast playing 4 player.
CaptainBreakout #53 Posted May 14, 2021 (edited) Mojonian Tales. I know this is a homebrew, but it's almost like playing a strange dream, complete with scantily clad women, who are sometimes nude and fart, and metaphors like Sonic Bad. Worth every penny. It's like a rabbit hole, like action 52, but playable (much!) and the jokes are funny. Other fav is also a homebrew... Nebs 'n Debs. It's a pure, perfect challenging game with style. The mechanics of Nebs 'n Debs are tight and nuanced... and take getting used to, but after some experience they are right up there with Mario 3. retrorussell #54 Posted May 19, 2021 I'm leaning towards Legend Of Zelda. I'm going to do a series of YT videos in the near future of my top 20 NES games, and I feel like Zelda should be #1.
TwentySixHundred #55 Posted May 19, 2021 Id like to add Crystalis to my list mainly as someone who have completed the Zelda games many times, i was looking for something similar. The game is incredible and i wish i owned it back in the day. Also some may disagree but i really enjoy Die Hard.

+GoldLeader #62 Posted June 27, 2021 OK then... Fair enough, especially since I myself have been meaning to try many games in these lists, but I just haven't gotten around to it...Yet.
CaptainBreakout #63 Posted June 28, 2021 Here's another one of my favs that rarely gets mentioned... Totally weird cute game that you can end up playing all day (at least back then... Does anyone have the time anymore?) I read somewhere that this was the devs' first game, and they went on to make Pokémon. Two player mode: Imagine Bomberman on acid.
QDBuckwheat #64 Posted July 5, 2021 It's really hard to pick a favorite NES game, there's just so many great titles. I'd say based on how much I've played these three, they'd be around my favorite games. Those would be Rescue Rangers, Mega Man 4, and Journey to Silius. All three are very fun to play and have extremely memorable soundtracks.
BurritoBeans #65 Posted July 11, 2021 It's tough to just pick one game so here's a few: Every Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden game: The reason I even originally wanted a NES. Kirby's Adventure, Gimmick!: I'm a sucker for cute things, they're memorable, and both play great. Deadly Towers, Hydlide 3: I have a soft spot for odd RPGs, both have been tens of hours of fun. Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited: I loved the Mac versions, these ports are awesome. I could probably reduce the collection to those titles and be happy. There are tons of other amazing games no doubt but these have been staples in my collection and usually what I return to when I do play the NES/Famicom.

Satoshi Tajiri had entered a few game design competitions before then, but this was the first game he actually made, possibly the first game design of his that was implemented. He wrote it in Family Basic, then went to Namco & asked if they’d like to publish it, since he liked their games. They said yes, surprisingly enough. They might’ve rewritten the game in assembly; I think I read that here.

+Cobra Kai #70 Posted July 26, 2021 Castlevania III. It feels like a cliche listing that one, but that game is incomparable in quality. I was so hyped about it back then, I used paper route money to have it in lay-away at Walmart. It's one of those few times where the hype ended up being legit.
RetroSonicHero #71 Posted July 28, 2021 I think I'm probably the only soul on the planet who feels this way, but I actually get a kick out of the first Top Gun game from time to time, despite the issues it has. Top Gun 2 is a different story for me, I felt like it was a bit jarring to play.

Absolutely loved this game back in the day. I somehow through trial and error figured out the direct path to the final area, and even had it memorized lol. Since I hadn't built my character up enough, I was never able to complete the game, but actually was able to defeat some bosses and burn some bells. I found the game to be surprisingly atmospheric, almost creepy once you get deeper into it. One of these days I will play it for real, mapping everything out!
WispFollower #73 Posted July 30, 2021 I don't think I have ever seen anyone talk about this game, but I have loved it since I was a kid- Rescue - The Embassy Mission. This game is an absolute gem with wonderful sound effects and straight up incredible music. The embassy is taken by bad guys. You have to sneak your team of dudes into tactical positions while spotlights search for you and shoot if you don't avoid them. Next phase is sniping any visible guys from surviving team members you moved into position. At any point, you can choose from another group of guys who were dropped by helicopter onto the roof to send in and clean house. You need to repel down to a window on whichever floor you choose. When you are over the window, smash in and move room to room, lighting up bad guys to a rocking beat. Watch out for hostages! There are different settings to change complexity and difficulty. It is very repayable and can be played many ways to get the job done. Try to minimize casualties and beat the clock!
