Now, new game, Nib!
I have been told by "Games Just Wanna Be Fun" another game in on the way.
Nib is an indie game which certainly looks like no other! Hand-drawn graphics.

I don't think there's a home-page, but this is the author's channel on YouTube,
and he's on all the Indie developer sites.

NOW RELEASED!

Ato
is also coming soon, from Tiny Warrior Games. No official release date yet.
It's on Steam, but only for Windows, and in a new version for the Linux AtariOS.

"A world of Beauty and Mystery, Emotive Animations, Atmospheric Environments,
Visually Driven Story, Metroidvania Exploration and Memorable Sword Duels."

This is from the same developer as "Frog Hop"; this game already has a fan base.

No official announcement for this...
I just read (via Facebook) about another game coming for the VCS. No ETA yet.
(Honestly I'm not a fan of the "art style", but I can see it could be a lot of fun.)

"Muffed is a fast-paced top-down twin stick shooter for 1-16 players! Enter the Co-Op Campaign as a test subject to take down Dr Wolfe and anyone else in your way, or fight your friends in PvP games. Over 50 weapons, giant headphones that give you slaying power, and... is that a drone?"

Plutonium Pirates (update)
Pixel Games (Sigi, and Sir Lovelot) released a new video for their WIP game "Plutonium Pirates".
As with other games, it will also be on Steam, but only for Windows there.

OMG! This is like Choplifter from back in the day! One of my favorite games? Where on the VCS am I supposed to be able to see this?

The developers, who also released Boulder Dash for the VCS, have confirmed that this game
will also come to the VCS when it's complete, but it's still under development at the moment.
Dynablaster, the legendary Bomber is back.

The developer of this game intended it specifically to be for the VCS, but indeed
it's also release on Steam at this point. It is pending approval for release on VCS.
Apolune2 needs to be played, IMHO, to understand the couch-coop element too.

Hell yes!  This looks like Choplifter + Fort Apocalypse!   Two of my favorites.  Still WIP?

I LOVED Fort Apocalypse on my 1200XL. It's funny, a lot of people understand that Desert Strike was influenced by Choplifter and Zaxxon, but they don't know how much I wanted Fort Apocalypse in there, too!

The Atari VCS is looking more attractive as time goes by. Plus, Atari’s promise to focus more on game development is a good sign that VCS owners will have plenty of first-party games to play too. The Recharged series is one good example of this happening.

Agreed.  It is weird to think I have had mine close to a year now.  (Well close to 11 months).  It definitely took some time for it to pick up steam... though still needs to add Steam.

I am in this boat.    I am happy that the VCS is getting some game releases, but it definitely needs more.  I am hopeful the next 3 months we can see some new games.   I want the Flashback Friday releases to be from different consoles that Atari released too.

They should make a new 5200 controller with USB adapter.  I would buy one.  Then they could release 5200 games.  Also if they do a Star Raiders: Recharged, they need that controller's support!

I'm not sure how much further Atari can go with Flashback Friday.  They've already released most of their non-7800 IP on Vault and Vault 2. Very little is left to pull from without licensing. I suppose they could release the A8 versions of this stuff.

Their 2021 IP list is viewable from here: https://www.atari.com/atari-games/

Curious about something, and I'm sure it's come up 'somewhere'.  But there is for sure a difference between currently owned IP, and Published history.  Atari was a games publisher for a LONG time, even outside of the stuff they had developed.  Like I think most of the things on the Jaguar likely fall under Published vs Developed.  So the real question is, do they still have rights to republish the old things.  I suppose it'd be in the contract of 'you're allowed to publish title X for platform Y', which means any of the Jaguar stuff (for example) would not be releasable on the VCS.  Same would go for those on the Atari 8bit computers.

I think it'd be awesome if they released Atari Writer80 on the VCS :P

This is my assumption too. Otherwise, we would have seen all of those great non-Atari arcade ports on the Flashback consoles. Classics like Moon Patrol, Dig Dug, Q Bert, Joust, etc. have never made an appearance to my knowledge.I seem to recall Atari inking a deal with Activision to get those titles on the Flashback. Probably not worth their $$$ to bring licensed titles to the VCS.

I'm sure someone has a copy of an licensing deal from BITD.

Now that 2022 is here, are there any updates on what new games we can expect for the VCS in Jan/Feb?

In addition to the list above, there are at least 2-3 more rumored: BPM Boy (details in other threads); a new game from Janni, who made Guntech/Utopos; and a racing game called Rally Racers, which I am near positive is the racing game ported from Xbox described above.

To be even modestly viable as a console/mini PC I suspect Atari needs to release 3-5 games a month, so they better hop to it. Games and playability are what people gravitate to, so they have work to do.
