pixelmischief #1 Posted December 28, 2020 Was Yoomp! released in a physical box with media? If so, is there any hope of me getting it?
gilsaluki #2 Posted December 28, 2020 I too always wanted a Yoomp! cart. Then I just got the Ultimate Cart and play it that way. Still, a great game that is hard to master. I suppose you could have one flashed.

pixelmischief #4 Posted December 28, 2020 @gilsaluki Thanks for the reply. I have been playing the game since it came out and it is brilliant. I want the physical box and media for my collection.

Mathy #7 Posted December 28, 2020 Hello guys If they say that, start talking about their collection of shoes, dresses, etc. Sincerely Mathy 1
8bitguy1 #8 Posted December 28, 2020 I had one once, sold it years ago on Ebay. Regretted it almost immediately. Was a nice package.
MrFish #9 Posted December 29, 2020 Speaking of which... have the actual cartridge and cassette versions ever been imaged? I know the XEX and ATR versions are available from their website; but it'd be nice to have these others too (assuming the authors wouldn't mind at this point). I know someone uploaded the audio music tracks from the cassette version already, which are pretty cool. I am afraid my Atari collection, although far from complete, would not fit into our combined shoe storage....

+CharlieChaplin #16 Posted December 29, 2020 Wellll, I have Yoomp, completely boxed, but almost never play the original disk/tape/cart. Instead I prefer the free NTSC disk version, since that plays a bit slower on my PAL Atari. Tape loading takes much too long and the cart. shows a black/blank screen for more than ten seconds, whereas the disk version shows a nicely animated bouncing ball while loading... Since my wife wants to separate from me, it all depends what happens in the next year and how bad that separation turns out. (But Atari is not the reason for separation.) Could be the case, that I have to sell quite a lot of my A8 collection e.g. 160+ A8 carts, including Yoomp and others...

I figure, that's why European gamers often get higher scores than Americans (and other NTSC-based countrymen). 38 minutes ago, CharlieChaplin said: Tape loading takes much too long and the cart. shows a black/blank screen for more than ten seconds, whereas the disk version shows a nicely animated bouncing ball while loading... I wouldn't imagine many wanting to sit through cassette loading of a sizable game like Yoomp; but it's always nice to have something like that for the collection (and always playable in a emulator with an imaged version). Too bad the cartridge loading isn't a little more visually interting/informative; but, eh... it's a cart, and it's only 10 seconds. 38 minutes ago, CharlieChaplin said: Since my wife wants to separate from me, it all depends what happens in the next year and how bad that separation turns out. Hopefully you can work things out with ur wife, and keep your collection.

I just put the XEX on an AtariMax 1 MBit image, and it loads just like the disk (with the bouncing ball). Yoomp [NTSC].car

+Larry #24 Posted December 31, 2020 Ran into a problem at the Yoomp! website. On my Win10 computer, trying to download the ATR or XEX files just puts up the code like it was a text link. I haven't had this issue with Win10 before. Right-clicking doesn't put up anything useful like earlier Windows versions. Anyone else run into this -or- suggestions? Edit: Thanks Philsan. Yes, it was a browser issue -- Firefox. I just now tried Chrome, and as you stated, it downloaded just fine. I like Firefox, but I do run into a fair number of web site issues. Perhaps it depends on your browser, no problems with W10 64 and Chrome.
