+Schmitzi Posted February 7, 2021 Author Share Posted February 7, 2021 Here the theory about my airflow: just remember, the 2 additional fans in the front of the PEB: I mounted the external heatsink from the Myarc DDCC-1 sitting very tight on the backside of the PEB, 1.) right in the airstream of fan #3 and 2.) with full contact to the PEBs cold metal housing. This really works good. Before, this thing was so damn hot that I could not hold in my hands after 10 minutes or so, NOW, it´s just a little bit warm and that after half an hour of full business with 4 drives ?️♂️ When I touch the other cards, Geneve and Ramdisk, this is no more such hot as before. Much better. (But the top cover must be closed that this concept works) And it is not loud or so, with the 2+1 fans. They are not reduced in speed at this moment, this maybe will follow when I got the exact temperatures. (How do I get them ??? Module is bolted on so no adhesives were used to secure it. Maybe change the power cord. Then use a different power supply / transformer. If you have a circuit diagram, you should measure whether the voltages are correctly applied everywhere. If you don't understand anything about measuring, I would have re-soldered the soldering points in your place. Just heat it up again. They don't look really fresh anymore. Maybe you have a cold solder joint somewhere on the board. I've already had that on one of my VIC-20s. I don't know the circuit diagram, but does the left capacitor leg touch the contact on the right? It would certainly not damage your board or the contacts if it was cleaned with isopropanol. I just have the pics of the power supply board and the mobo out of the case. There's not really anything else to show. The mounting brackets are covered up by the rf shield so no way to get a real good picture of that. Inside the signal box is just the flat cable for the vga, two red led light strips and wires for the audio. After I designed and printed the box, I remembered that composite no doesn't exist with the f18a. So the yellow jack is on there for looks haha. Recapped both boards and the f18a just plugged into the mobo. That is a really nice shell The 5 pin din is removed since there's no need for it anymore. That will go back to the customer along with the tms9918 & heatsink. The flat cable had to be cut and folded over to fit through the hole. The test end development system contains an RS232 card with HDX, SAMS memory card, IDE card, TI diskcontroller and a card with stuff I'm working on (usually a 10 years project). In the front the first version of the TiBus project (see my website ti99-geek.nl for some details of the first year ... still nine years to go). What if TI hade made computer in different colors, maybe that could have been a success? I had this computer laying around for no use, it had a lot of scratches on the plastic, so I decided to save it from not being used. It is my daughters computer for her to enjoy, it has an F18A (thanks @Hans23!), FinalGrom99, TIPI with a mouse and it works just fine, I noticed that the power led doesn't work. The color is called Hell Pink and I left the plastic shell to a professional paint shop to remove the scratches and paint it.
