Who's interested in a classic gaming event in Minnesota??

I'm trying to gauge interest in a classic gaming event in the Twin Cities area, hopefully a location near the Mall of America. A place to buy, sell, play, trade, and talk video games. respond if you'd come!

You might want to organize something with Songbird, SPACE, MilATARI, SCAT, the Atari Video Club, and Video 61. I'm sure they'd all be interested in attending such an event.

Of course, all retailers and enthusiests would be welcome to come, but I think that the event would be hosted by Warpzone Video Games.

well, chances are close to slim for me to attend another event as of right now. I can prob get rep from AVC/JCU to attend and get a report.

AVC/JCU is also willing to sponsor any classic/next gen event (if it's affordable)

The last "fest" I attended was Jagfest '98(?)- the one in/near Rochester. I met Dan Iacovelli & had a pretty good time.

I think it would be a Great idea to have this in Minnesota, not sure if the place to run for your life "Mall of America" is the best place to hold it though. I know that there would be a pretty good sized turn out.

I'd be first in line to jump on the support wagon for an event like this, but as Jagfest 2002 in St. Louis and AGE a couple weeks ago proved, I can make plans all year to attend and at the last minute some "emergency" arises at my place of employment and I get to stay behind. It's like the bastards know...

 

Anyway, I'm sure an event like this would be a huge success so I wish you luck in your efforts.

@The_Collector: 8bit4life said "near" the Mall of America, most likely not in it! The cost for space in there is probably astronomical for our purposes & wouldn't generate a proportionate turnout (but I'd be glad to be proven wrong!)

 

More along the lines of a hotel/motel event room, hall, school, church, or even someone's house...

I haven't heard from you in long time.

it was jagfest '99 in MN. I've only been to Jagfest 97,99,2001,2002 (and hosted the jagfest stops this year at MWC and VGS) at 98 I did have club rep present at the show in NY.

@Dan Iac...- I'm still a big Atari fan, but as time goes on, I find less & less of it to devote to Atari. I do miss writing reviews for your newsletter! I posted a few in the "Perpetual Lynx Review" thread...

The Thunderbird is a good location for an event like this. Not sure of the prices that they ask for, but I know that is always baseball card and comic shows there since they have a large area in the center of the hotel. And its easy to find as well.
