Intellivision 2- Scrambled Graphics

Hello!

 

I was excited about finally getting an LTO Flash. I tried a couple of my old games before I tried the Flash, and I noticed that some of the graphics are distorted.

I saw some of the older posts about cleaning the cartridge slot with alcohol, and even though I got some oxidation off, it doesn’t seem to make a difference. The same thing happens to the flash, so it isn’t a dirty cartridge.

 

I had it out a little over a year ago, and I remember everything was ok...I think.

 

Any ideas? Does alcohol not always work?

Do you have other samples?  Does text and numbers display correctly but graphics look scrambled?  I had that issue with my Sears Intellivision and had to replace to the graphics ram.

Text looks fine.

 

Is that an easy fix?

I’ll let smarter people than me weigh in.  I have never opened my Inty 2.  
 

With my Sears which had similar display issues I desoldered the GRAM chips, soldered in some sockets and then popped in new GRAM chips and luckily graphics were fixed.  Of course this means acquiring some replacement chips so it may be less effort just replacing the unit.
