How was turned on the videopac g7000?

Perhaps hardware changes were due to different regulations? It makes me wonder how e.g. the Timex Sinclair 1000 works in the US, if it requires pulling the power cable just like on the ZX-81 (and ZX Spectrum) to cycle power, and if the subsequent US models TS-1500 and TS-2068 have proper power switches. Something similar might be going on here, that European regulations allowed systems to be powered on only by pulling the cable or a dead man's grip like inserting a cartridge, while on other markets a separate power button was required in order to sell it. This is just speculation from my part, but stranger things have happened in the history of products.
