You should really read the articles on my website and check out the videos on my YouTube channel as well as in the playlist I have for the ti if you are curious there's also the wiki

Thanks. I didn't spot the answer to my one question in a quick read of the TIPI threads here as well as on your site. I'm glad it provides support for floppies as well as portability to PC and back.

Myself though, I'm still leaning mostly towards emulation rather than playing on the iron. While I know the TIPI offers a lot more, I'm really just aiming at porting over my old floppies. For accomplishing that, the Gotek remains my first choice.

frankly the easiest is HDX..  you just load a program on your TI hook up a straight through serial cable between the pbox and a pc serial port and load the sw on the server.. copy away

Wow instant gratification! Thanks!

Use Disk Manager DM3.x of Fred Kaal

Ti99-geek.nl

If TIPI is at cru  1000

Then you can indicate.  1000.DSK1.  (TiPI)

Or 1100.DSK1. (TI FDC)

Also when the link is empty for DSK1. In CALL TIPI    then still it will look at TI FDC at 1100.

Other disk managers DM1000 etc. still look at TI FDC controller.

(Other option to transfer is CFHDXS1 via serial cable to the PC running HDX server)

This is good as I am starting to face some issues with disks and disk drives.

Got my 2x Gotek drives SFR1M44-U100K (USD 19 each via Lazada/ seller in China). working in TI and Geneve both as DSK1.  Other drives 5.25 and 3.5 reconfigured as DSK3. and DSK2.

Will do a detaile update later (making notes here)

Procedure as in the video:

+ need USB-male to male cable (USB-A to -A)

+ need to connect the pins as in the video

(I used solder and a wire).

+ use software of ST microelectronics (for the driver ST in DFU mode)

+ use FlashFirmware

+ use DFU tool to flash formware .dfu file

+ note during flash loose device, gets recognized again, probably as read protect gets removed.

+ use FlashFirmware software

+ reconfig FF.cfg  to support ti99

+ make .dsk files e.g. with TI image tool to format size supported bij Diskcontroller

(Eg. I used DS/DD 1.44mb 40 tracks) as my controllers are BWG and Corcomp.

+ call disks   DSKA0000xxxxxx

DSKA0001xxxx, etc

Eg.  DSKA0002_MYARCBOOT.DSK

+ copy all files in the root of USB stick (FAT32)

    I used a 8GB Sandisk usb stick.

+ set drive select with a jumper to S0 (3rd pin from fright)

Select right disk  with buttons on Gotek.

Booted myarc succesfully from gotek. Drive A:

On TI was able to load from Gotek. Also saw content with DM1000 v1.7 and DM3

Works with all drives in my system.  5.25, 3.5, corcomp ramdisk, tipi-peb.

1) Looking forward to detailed docs, I'm really gonna need them! ?

2) How fast did the Geneve Boot?

3) Also, even though it does, don't you know the BwG doesn't work with the Geneve! ?

Geneve boots fast enough from Gotek i think little bit faster than floppy but slower than horizon. But happy so far, easy to re-image the horizon as it does sometimes funny.

BwG is used with the TI so i have access to a clock.  Geneve is Corcomp.

You won't need most of that because I do it all for you when you buy the drives from my store

Sent from my LM-V600 using Tapatalk

It is actually simple once you do it 1x time.  One issue i had that my laptop could not load the StM dfu drivers and recognize the device then i used another PC and all good.

New Gotek drive (mine is SFR1M44-U100K) + Software:

https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wiki/Firmware-Programming

* Follow this video step by step.

* To recognize the gotek via a USB-A to USB-A  (male to male cable).

I used a desktop PC as my laptop did not recognize it somehow.

* install the jumpers (I used solderwire to do the 2x connections).

* (see video) again, zip file is here in the post  en.stsw-stm32080.zip,

to get the STM to DFU mode, you need to overwrite the driver:

you can download the driver here:

STMicroelectronics driver (for DFU) - https://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/products/development-tools/software-development-tools/stm32-software-development-tools/stm32-programmers/stsw-stm32080.html?dl=IeA74PoEIrHrRLeNCYLdWA%3D%3D%2Cm66BcgskYvRqy8mqoNqlDSlf3J4YuteNw91mM8q9ktdDlIGCdN52IjuMWd9HzT4xV1Z9vTIAR4mLi8pYBPrrGjqgG7kCMBixP9so8iWAE8o19KHHQtubkfnYJ%2BMrjJEOwDTCV%2FHzSnOwJg1iZP3l6f%2Ff0OWrN6kRSavLM5HYqcs106janTU4ZkSEY5JGJvdMSRolUOKbJU05fxhfotq0lazbmRqyhnGDvOLh9zGz%2BSFIR9mI5qM%2FZjI2B7QmwsIDHlJ%2BHdGJvUKSot%2FuB7DMwjHHIiF1nn3J1et5CBvMXBG1cA21lw7ZUqkFEiXvtgI6WofrwkqkxK8D2LyKEGJNjg%3D%3D&uid=M0Cl3Ad0yfgfUzP738t0F+0+UhyHejoc

* Download Flash Floppy .zip file flashfloppy-v3.23.zip

   latest version is here https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wiki/Downloads

   it includes a .dfu file.

* Follow the instructions in the video

Note: during the "remove Read protection"  I lost my connection to my Gotek

(let Windows recognize it again and start the DFU tool again)

   and overwrite the firmware

Now you are ready with the Gotek drive and you can remove the jumpers and disconnect from the PC.

Prepare the USB drive (need to be FAT32 formatted):

* Reconfig FF.cfg  to support ti99

Copy to the root of the USB drive

   (or in the \FF directory)

* make .dsk files e.g. with TI image tool to format size supported bij Diskcontroller

Install in the PEB to the diskcontroller

* I use Gotek as DSK1.  (jumper S0)

* using a straight cable connected to the external connector of the diskcontroller

(I used a BwG controller in my TI-99/4A and a Corcomp Controller in my Myarc Geneve 9640)

both do DS/DD (thus max. 1.44Mb disks)

Select right disk  with buttons on Gotek.

In the TI-99/4A I used DM1000 v1.7 and DM3 and works with all drives in my system.  5.25, 3.5, corcomp ramdisk, tipi-peb.

In the Geneve I can access it with A:  (or in TIMODE with DSK1.)

(reason with jumper S0,  A:  so I can boot the Geneve from Gotek)

i modified the design on Thingiverse that allows for a 128x64 and 3.5 drive along with a Gotek a bit to take out the OLED and put in a rotary as well as holes for the LEDs.  I'll be using an external 16x2 or 20x4 LCD.

It's going to take about 5 1/2 hours to print.

According to the description on the file it requires a very specific 128x64 OLED.  I measure all the ones I have and none of them would fit.  They were all a 1 to 1.5mm too big.  I want to use the bigger LCD anway, but I may try to modify the OLED area to be able to be more universal as all the ones I have found measure what mine are.

So, I'm still in the process of replacing one of my 5.25" with a Gotek.

The Gotek is meant to replace a 3.5" drive.

I found old case parts to install a 3.5" drive to a 5.25" bay.

You'll also need to consider,

An adapter board if you don't want to replace the ribbon cable:

Card edge to idc adapter (ebay):

You'll also need a molex to floppy adapter:

And since you probably don't want a usb stick, sticking out to far, a snubbie USB drive:

Just did this easy upgrade to change the display and see the disknames when changing disks. See this link how to do it. Instead I glued the display.  Now have to do the other one for Geneve9640. Happy with these Gotek devices.

Message to myself.... the diskdrive cable need to be replaced or a loose connector is the issue (after troubleshooting for 8 hours).  GOTEK FLASHFLOPPY works like a charm. Really love the flexibility accessing Floppy DiskS via USB and it is hot pluggable as well.  Easy to upgrade/downgrade via the (gotek) .upd file. Now running at 3.39 version.

I've just gotten what I thought was a burned out Gotek to accept the FlashFloppy programming, seems to work. Can someone point me to the proper FF.CFG/IMG.CFG combo I need to use, for the TI99/Geneve? My controller seems tp be accessing the gotek okay.

I might need to add, I'm using version 4.6a of the FlashFloppy firmware. I've set my host to be ti99 per @jedimatt42post in

But it will not let me access the dsk img I made, so I must not have all the information I need.
