Price drops on the way

Nintendo's latest earnings report shows, among other things, that only 800,000 GameCubes were sold worldwide in the last quarter.

Nintendo has today released its first-ever quarterly earnings report showing a profit of some 11.5 billion yen ($95.8 million) for the "low demand season" quarter ending June 30. Worldwide sales of 3.24 million Game Boy Advance consoles contributed significantly to the figures for the quarter, with the GBA SP accounting for approximately 85 percent of that figure. Sales of the GameCube have been significantly less impressive, though, with only 800,000 consoles being sold worldwide in the last three months.

Nintendo hopes to sell some 6 million GameCubes and 20 million GBA consoles in the fiscal year ending March 2004--targets that, according to Morgan Stanley analyst Shunji Yamashina, the company is likely to miss unless it takes some drastic measures such as price cuts.

Shit, at $99 I'd buy a second one just to get the color black and dedicate it to my GB Player full time. :D

for $150 I'd be sure to buy another X-box.. once I verify it's an older 1.0 - 1.2 model of course :D

I bought the Dreamcast when it dropped to $100... I'd be happy to see the current systems drop in price.

(Although 90% of the games are still far too expensive...)

The games are all dropping by 10 bucks this fall as well. Sales are way down. New systems won't be out until 2005. The bargains are a-comin.'

Microsoft doesnt seem to care about thier loses because of the bottemless pit of money they have. I can't wait till the Xbox goes on liquidation for next to nothing prices. I'll be sure to stock up on alot of those Xbox systems when they do :D Since I missed the Dreamcast liquidation...

I suppose even I could be convinced to buy an X-Box if it was $99. Then I'd finally get to play Halo, Munch's Oddysee, and JSRF.

JagWarLord...

Missed the DC liquidation? Dude... you can still get them for really cheapO! :) Just win a super deal auction on eBay or something with a DC and like 30 games for $100ish... =)

And it's a great system! (IMHO :)

I'll probably pick up a GC and XBOX too once the prices drop... but until then it doesn't really matter. I barely have time to play the games I have :)

GC doesn't really get me though as much as the XBOX does (it's a software thing, haha, and I don't mean that in a Windows jokingly way)

PS2 has been getting Burnout 2 play time (great game :) and

Midnight Club 2 (it's ok... )

MegaManFan... Have you played the JSRF for xbox yet?

Maybe it's me , but I liked the DC version of JGR more then the JSRF on

xbox....

:ponder:

Sides, haha... XBOX is getting Knight Rider ;) hahahaha....

:P
