Hi.

I am pleased to share my latest purchase with the forum.

Arrived from Egypt in 4 days. Unfortunately there is no box, booklet, oh well !.

It had problems with the joypads (the seller correctly reported this).

I opened it and inside.... I found about 1 lb of sand and I let out 2 dromedaries 🐪 still alive. 😊

I think it was used by some Tuareg in the middle of the desert ...🙃

I worked on the electronic board, the problem was related to welding that prevented the joypad from working and starting the games.

Nothing particularly difficult to solve.

Cleaned up well .... and this is the result:

The console is a 220 volt 50 Hz PAL system.

If you are interested in photos of the electronic board, please refer to the attackment.

Wow, I didn't know the Intellivision had been marketed in Egypt.

Was it imported and localized by this company called ECICO?

there is very little news on Ecico. But of course this was the distributor for those countries.

That board is old; from 1980 and probably made in usa.  Intv didn't start making intellivisions until 1985 and who knows when these localised for the middle east were produced.  What's the interface between the pal daughterboard and the main board.  With all the glue on the stic chip it looks like an ntsc board converted to pal.

Congrats! Awesome pickup. To the best of my knowledge that's the third one that's come to light the last few years. For what it's worth the box looks like this. 😊

The box pics are from about 30 feet away from me. 😎 Might be the most expensive Intellivision ever. Lol.

Amateurs 😁

I kid, but I recently found a few items I've been hunting for about a decade and I'm still kinda stoked.  Good luck on your quest 👍 That's a pretty rare item.

Just out of curiosity, I tried Google Translate's camera feature to auto-translate on the Arabic writing.  The tool really struggles with it, especially on sections that uses a very stylized font.  The upper right hollow writing on the console itself was the most the most difficult to auto-translate.

However, the console's upper right and the box's upper left are almost the same words (the box has 1 extra word in the upper left).  In a nutshell, the console says "ECICO Electronics" and the box says "ECICO Electronics Company"

The back of the box translates better.  I didn't look at it in detail but the text is similar to the US back of the box (except the power voltage and frequency).

I can post the auto-translated images if folks are interested.

Ok, that would be interesting.ù

I asked my wife to have the larger print on console and on box translated.

She works in the commercial office and also follows the Arab market for the company.

Beginning next week I believe we can have an exact translation.

As I remember someone translated it in the older post about the first Arabic Intellivision that was discovered.
