How do I craete a physical DDP from an image on my ADE?

Recommended Posts

I tried to use File Manager to BACKUP a .ddp file on my ADE to a physical DDP without any luck.  The file seems to copy from Ade to DDP but wont load and run properly afterwards

What program are you trying to copy from DDP image file to a real Data Pack? I ask because it may need to be copied to a Right Dir DDP.

Then use the Disk Drive...its way faster (assuming it has the necessary storage capacity)!!! 😃

Dragon’s Lair needs to be copied to a Right Dir. DDP (ie: a repurposed Buck Rogers DDP).

- Turn on the ADAM
- Set the SD DDP Drive to RD mode versus it’s default CD mode

- place a Right DIR DDP into the real Data Drive

- load File Manager from disk or ADE disk image

- best to choose Block Copy

- Source drive (SD DDP) copy starting at block #00 and 256 blocks total

- Destination drive (real DDD) starting block #00

Make sure to test the DDP image file of Dragon’s Lair first to make sure it’s a good image and is the correct size (256K).

I don’t recall if File Manager properly resets ADAMnet if you are switching between using CD and RD DDPs during the same session. Either read the text manual included on the image or do a couple test runs.

Backup+ 3.0 is your fall back copy program if you still have problems. This copy utility has “Special” copy options solely for handling RD DDPs as explained in the PDF manual that is available.

He has it on disk as well as disk image through ADE SD Drive, he just wants to make a physical DDP copy for his collection.

It’s good to exercise the Data Drive every now and then anyway.
