Vertical Ninja/Kung Fu game -can't remember name?

Wondering if you guys can help. I'm trying to remember a game I used to play at the local sub shop in my old neighborhood. 
 

it was some kind of Ninja or Karate/Kung Fu themed platformer, that played vertically at least in parts of it, if not for the whole game. 

I vaguely remember trees as platforms, like the Savage lands level in X-men for Sega Genesis, but it moved faster. 

 

this would have been mid/late 80's when it was new, say 85-88.

 

it's not Shinobi, or Ninja Gaiden.
