Arcadia Supercharger Prototypes - Help

Good morning, I am new to the community and am needing some help determining value of these Arcadia Superchargers.  I have done my homework and know a bit about them but cannot seem to find where they have been sold in the past.  I know that the market kindof sets the value on something like this and that they are 'worth what someone is willing to pay' but I'm being offered 2k for them and I'm not sure if that is a good offer or not.  Can someone help me to determine some level of value for these?

Wish I could help, but I’m honestly not sure myself.   I’ve never seen these either.  Im Guessing you’ll get some good advice here.  Looking at what you have, my gut says it’s worth more than 2k, but again I have nothing to base that on other than the likely rarity.  I don’t think I would personally take that if offered.

Several of your prototypes are most likely WIP versions based on the names (Excalibur and Labyrinth) which means they're worth more.  Have you tested any of them to see if they work and what differences they have?

I haven't been in the prototype buying/selling market in years, but I'd think you might be able to do better than that (assuming they all work).

One thing I would strongly suggest doing is confirming whether or not the unit on the right is a prototype or not - compared to the other two, it lacks any markings indicating that one way or another.  This will have a significant effect on the value of the lot, so best to get it squared away first.

Thank you all for the responses so far.  I am kindof operating under the assumption that it is not and that it is maybe an early model.  I have not seen another in this design online.  I know that Arcadia was purchased by Starpath who produced them for retail purchase so this must have been before that.  The 2k offer was based under the knowledge that one of these may not be a prototype.

IMHO they are all prototypes, insofar as they do not seem to be production versions.

They're rare and desirable to people who collect such things.  $2K is a lot of money and the market is small.

On the other hand, those who do collect such things generally have a lot of money and $2K is not a significant amount.

My own view on this is that they are worth far more sold individually, than as a group.

Confidential Prototypes, wow that's really cool -

I think these are definitely worth more than 2K to collectors for being so unique, I wonder if they have any different functionality or extra RAM like the Brazilian SuperCharger.

Ya the 'Confidential' part really piqued my interest haha.  I have no idea how to value these.  It seems like the consensus is that the 2k offer was low.  I expressed to my potential buyer that I was feeling out to see what the value might be and he immediately just bumped his offer to $2,500...  Has anyone seen these go for sale anywhere?

Very impressive.

And most certainly worth $2500 for the collector, if not more.

So far, I've only seen this one popping up:

Escape from the Mindmaster is not a review tape, BTW.

The third Supercharger is a pre-production unit as well:

.binning the tapes could indeed show differences with the released versions, especially Excalibur and Labyrinth.

Very nice collection of stuff, whats the story behind the collection?

Just want to point out, looks like the proto/pre production supercharger on the right in the picture is missing the audio cable. just a couple small wires coming out of it.

to me the value would be less if anything is not in working shape, but what I think is fair:

Prototype sc - 500-750 each, less for the obviously broken one

Tapes - 75 - 250 each depending on the game/wip or not

using the average for these numbers, you end up with 1875 for the superchargers and 4000 for the tapes.

Subtract 300 if the one sc unit is indeed broken, as it looks in the pic and times by about 0.75 because a single buyer is saving you a lot of trouble dealing with many different buyers, I think 4000 or more would be a fair offer.  But I dont win auctions all the time, or bid on everything...

While I'm not in the proto market all, Your logic here is pretty sound.

Not exactly. Arcadia changed its name to Starpath as a result of Emerson (of Arcadia 2001 "fame") suing Arcadia for trademark infringement, but you're right in terms of the timeline that any references to Arcadia are on the early end of things.
