Just found this on an old disk, I wrote it for a magazine that asked for programs in 5 lines, I think

I got £25 for this.

 

You can type NEW after running, the routine sits in Page 6, so as long as you don't use Page 6 it stays there,

if you press reset, just do x=USR(1536) to start it again.

Its been ages since I typed in a program.

Had a program like that (for those that are curious it let's the cursor blink) back in the days of the 8-bit wars but for me it was and is one of the advantages that the cursor of the atari doesn't blink.

 

Nice idea nevertheless.

I forgot to say what it did  , it also highlights the line the cursor is on

I do that all the time, you can just right click on the Altirra screen and select Paste too.

neat! Seems to really slow down the text printing while running... LISTing the program looks like a 1200bps modem when this is enabled.

Hmm I could probably convert this into an autorun.sys. More to play with later.

 

Edit.. And Whoa, ANY inverse text is flashing, not just the cursor!

Only if you type in the program correctly (which I didn't...visions of the past).

Yeah - everything I recall seeing BITD that gave a flashing cursor, simply made ALL inverse text flash.  I'm not aware of any that only made the cursor blink.

Strange - I just tried this again in Altirra, and now listing is making the machine crash.

Simple blinking cursor is just toggling 752 ($02f0 / CRSINH)

 

 

Inverse video stays inverse video.

I recall something that replaced the cursor with a PMG "underscore" that I guess would definitely be completely unaffected/independant.
