ti 99 mechatronic eprommer

Recommended Posts

I have a mechatronic eprommer with software and manual, but have never learned how to use it.  The manual is not that friendly.  Any suggestions or places I can look to get me started?

I have one too. Haven't used it in over 20 years, but there were write ups about it on Micropendium, as well as other user group. If I remember correctly, the software was somewhat intuitive. I know I used to copy ROMs from everything, in my excitement😅

There where a number of articles about it in the Chicago UG newsletter. I think one included a mod that would allow you to burn either 12 or 24 EPROM. I think that was also Atrex's go to burner, before he purchased one for the PC.

For the most part, it's a pretty solid unit, just use the software that came with it and make sure your using the EPROM called for. Also, I've seen it once, but I think the folks at Inscebot created another program to burn EPROM's with a really kewl interface. I don't think it was every released as commercial software.

The original Mechatronic Eprommer was rather limited. It would do 21V and 25V EPROMS (i.e., 2716s, 2732s, TMS 2532s, 2764 and 27128s). The modification allowed the user to program 12.5V EPROMs. At the time, (mid 1980s) it nicely served the needs of the community. I used, and still have, a working unit. The instructions that came with the unit are easy to follow and the software will guide you through the process. You have to use the "Buffer Commands" screen to clear the buffer and load the EPROM code into memory. Then, switch to the "Eprommer Commands" to select and burn the EPROM of your choice. Easy-peasy!
