MyIDE1 and Transcend Flash module

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just got an old MyIDE1 and also have a Transcend IDE 32MB flash module. Can I just plug this module into the cartridge and good to go, or do I need to add power to the module's header? Thanks!

The later productions of MyIDE-1 have power on pin 20, yes.

So you can plug it in just like that.
No need to use the power-header.

Pin 20 is on the label side, you can have a peak inside with a light.

Latest firmware etc, please vidit the atarimax forum.

Ahh got it! For the firmware looks like I would need the MYBIOS -FLASH.ZIP file from 2013?

Thanks!

Or if you are a Spartados user you could flash the latest build of SpartaDos X 449 ..

Awesome! Looks like I just need to boot the myide-1-flasher.atr and take it from there.

If the cartridge got 'hosed'....

clean the cartridge fingers and the cartridge port...

remove the transcend module...

run the flasher again... but follow the hot cart plug  method....

it may take a try or two, but the flash should then take...

after that plug back in the transcend module...

all should be well, though depending on how old the original flash was... you may have to set the transcend partition info up again...

Hopefully you had all you stuff written down for partitions etc...

If not you will be re doing your data from the ground up.

Well, I downloaded the myide-1-flasher.atr from the bottom of the forum and did the hot cart plug and the program recognized it. It would start to flash and gives me a flash error. I tried about 3-4 times, then when I rebooted I get a black screen. Originally I was going to use the USB flasher and Studio software, but it refused to recognize the cartridge.  I know the flasher is ok, because it works with my 8mbit cart. The myIDE-1mbit cart is old, like 2006 old.

These are generic eeproms

I opened mine, to have a look.

ST (maker) M29F010B (1 megabit)

This is the transparent one, early versions were black, you can easily open them.

They are not glued, just pressed together.

I use a Transcend 128mb, no problems, with the latest firmware I created, the one you downloaded.

Black screen, means, eeprom erased, nothing programmed.

Well, good news and bad news, first I was able to revive the cartridge. I downloaded the 3.5 flasher I would further down the forum and that flashed and booted. Now I ran the MyBIOS 4.8.05: -RE -RI -DE -DI (5-feb) -FI -FE (7-feb) ATR file with my 8mbit cart and it flashed a bunch of games on it. So, I'm not sure if the file has been replaced, or I could still be doing something wrong.

No idea yet, what went wrong, but this is the correct file:

Last firmware update I did for MyIDE-I is here (4.8.0A, unreleased beta with bugfixes to the -05 version).

Which is -by the way- still an amazing version of MyBIOS. I still use it from time to time, and I must say it is an excellent version.

Let's see how far the topic starter gets. I still use a MyIDE-1 with flash every now and then, simply because it works so well. So if the topic starter gets the stuff working, we are here to give him the best experience possible with it!
