river9999uk
Guys. I have narrowed my colecovsion fault down to the BIOS. I borrowed a friends BIOS and my console works with his in it and does not with mine (and visa versa). I'd like to download and write a new bios for mine but need a dummies guide (and equipment needed). I like to play with this sort of thing so I am up for the challange! Any help, links etc etc are most welcome ?

SiLic0ne t0aD
I think Console5 or one of them sells a 'fast-boot' or 'press-fire-to-boot' bios. I'd socket that chip and throw one of those in there.. It's a lot less painful than waiting through that 10 second title screen. [emoji28]
NIAD
Putting a socket in would be the smartest decision especially if you decide to go with a Modded BIOS. While modded BIOS chips are a great option, there is absolutely no way that EVERY ColecoVision cart (Legacy, Homebrew, etc.) is completely tested with the Modded BIOS, so no way to know if the modded BIOS code might cause issues with a game or games. So always have an original BiOS chip on hand and easy enough to swap in/out with a socket in place.

river9999uk
Ok fell into the trap! I programmed a 27c64 (28pin) only to find out that the TMS9929A is 24 pin so the new BIOS wont fit ? Does anyone have the pinout of the TMS9929A so I can make an adaptor for the 27c64. Thanks
+5-11under
Not TMS9929A... . Doesn't the main board have extra holes so the 28 pin will fit? Check out the guide.
river9999uk
Yes sorry meant the TMS4764NL. The PAL rev D board does not have the extra holes so you cant do the small mod and put a 28pin socket in ?
river9999uk
I have been supplied some great info showing that looks like you can use a 2364 to 2764 adaptor (28 pin to 24 pin). I have ordered one to take a look.
a7mag3ddon
Hi, did you ever get this fixed? I now find myself in same position. Ordered a fire to skip bios 28pin and my pal board is also Rev D and has 24 pins.
