phlegmer
So I've had a PS/2 adapter that I purchased from AtariAge for quite a while. I finally have a chance to give Defender of the Crown a go with the new interface. However, I can't seem to get it to work. Plugged it into port 2 and selected option 2 when DotC starts up. After that point, nothing works with the mouse. Is there something I'm missing? The pins all look good when I unplug the adapter to inspect for bent pins. Please advise. Thanks! A couple of questions: 1. Is it a standard PS/2 mouse or is it a mouse USB with an adapter? 2. Does port 2 work with a regular Jag Pad? 3. Have you verified operation of the mouse in a computer? 4. What kind of PS/2 mouse is it? feel free to email me directly @ macrorie@thebrewingacademy.com -M

I just confirmed with Raiden that both Jag ports work 3. I have not, might have a little trouble finding a computer with a PS/2 port but I'll have to hunt around. 4. It's an older Compaq 2 button mouse with ball (not optical) I'll either confirm 3. or maybe I'll find another PS/2 mouse to try. Thanks for the reply. Hmm, I cannot think of any reason why it would not work (outside of the mouse itself being non-functional). You can send it to me and, if I can verify it is defective, will send you a replacement. If not, then you know you need to find a new mouse without having to find a PS/2 capable computer! -M

I'll first check to see if we have any PS/2 mice at work this coming week before I'll take you up on your kind offer. Thanks
JagChris
You should be able to find usb/ps2 mice adaptors easily enough

I'll keep that in mind as I troubleshoot. Thanks!
Zerosquare
It only works on mice which natively support both modes. Most early USB mice did, but current ones may not.
+cubanismo
You can also get uh... "Active" PS/2-USB adapters that generally have ports for a PS/2 keyboard and mouse and plug into a computer's USB port. They're generally pretty terrible, but if you just want to verify a PS/2 mouse works at all, they can probably handle that.
phlegmer
Just a quick update....I finally located another PS/2 mouse that is newer and that one works just fine. So I chucked that old Compaq mouse. Thanks!
