TI GROM Numbers

Based on a request by several members here, I did some verification of the GROM and Mask ROM numbers from TI cartridges. I have a lot more data, but this list only contains the part numbers that I was physically able to verify today from boards in my board box. I'll add more as time allows.

Updated file to V3

Updated file to V4 April 14, 2021

-This update includes a lot of new data, including GROM numbers for all 12 of the Scott Foresman Reading modules.

Updated file to V5 April 16, 2021

-Now includes data provided by @humeurand @Flottmann1, along with some more of my US and European cartridges.

Updated file to V6 April 16,2021

-Now includes more data provided by @humeurand @Flottmann1, along with some more of my US and European cartridges (and including the rest of my unreleased Qual cartridges).

-Missing: Household Money Management (I have to dig mine out), some of the EU variants of Wumpus (again, I need to go digging), SMU Circuit Analysis 1 (I have to dig out my GROM for that one), Computer Math Games I, Computer Math Games IV, Key to Spanish, Advertizer (I suspect all of these are on EGROM boards, but if anyone has a real GROM, we need the number), Scott Foresman School Management modules (I have to dig these out), and Fractions 1. I also need to look at the GROM numbers in the MB Gamevision cartridges to see if they fit in too.

I think I may have had a copy of that list at one time also, although I'm not sure it was complete, as it may not have had the GROMs for the unreeased cartridges that had completed their Qual runs (using real GROM chips).

I did find one interesting thing while putting this list together--I have found a number of multiple GROM cartridges that actually use one of the GROMs through the entire series. All of the Milliken Math Sequences cartridges use CD2278, with the rest of the GROMs being specific to each cartridge. I haven't tried to investigate the GROM yet, but it is most likely for the School Management functions, since those would be the same across all of them. I need to look inside one of my dual title Qual units, as that may tell me some more about this (the dual-title cartridges boot straight into the Management screens unless you are holding the space bar down on boot).

One of the more bizarre/hard to find ones is verifed too--the part number for the Argentine Spanish GROM 0. I've been using this list from Mr. Sheets to make some updates.

Here's an update. Much more to follow as I do more digging (and verifying the first parts of the part numbers to get some of the later stuff and various localized GROMs into the list).

See first post for current V3 file.

I also discovered another interesting GROM tidbit: TI apparently designed a GROM (CD4326) with the sole purpose of launching a ROM cartridge image. They only needed this GROM and the Mask ROM with the actual program in it. So far, I have found four cartridges that used this launcher GROM: Early LOGO Learning Fun, Sneggit, Crossfire, and Hopper.

Do you have the SMU GROM?  Or do you need me to open my qual cart?

I have one of the GROMs somewhere in my collection. I bought a small box of random GROM chips about 20 years ago--and that was in the set. Those chips in that box were actually the main reason for my first attempt at making a GROM list. I was a bit stupid though, as I made the list on paper and then promptly misplaced it, LOLOL. I came across it just once in the last 20 years, so I know I still have it--just not where. I'll let you know if you need to open the cart to read the numbers. I just have to pull out my box of chips soon anyway, as I think it had some other odd ones in it too.

Scott Foresman seemed to like the idea of multiple uses for a single GROM as well. Several of the Math modules use CD4361 in addition to the other distinct GROMs in these cartridges. I'm still compiling a complete list, but so far, four cartridges use this scheme.

Thanx!:lust:

My bottom was a little bit different ...no laminate ...less copper fill, with more solder ...I recall a small bare wire or two, embedded in the solder.

Like they thought... maybe it's gonna get hit by lightning or somethin'.

  P.S. This module + RECORD KEEPING... is where/why I learned about the CS1-O-Matic trick!:ahoy:

I meant to dedicate it too.

  P.P.S. Who doesn't think this is SEXY!?
