1200XL M.U.L.E.
I have been playing around more with SynGraph and successfully saved a few graphs to disk. The files have an extension of *.SCR. Is that a standard graphics files format for the 8-bit family? What else can open them? Thanks!!
TGB1718
From what I can find, a .SCR file is a screensaver file, there appear to be a few programs that are able to open these. It seems it's been used since about 1977 by lots of systems, so not specifically for the A8. I just Googled Atari .scr file format
+Allan
There is a BASIC program in the back of the manual that will display these in a slideshow.
1200XL M.U.L.E.
Yes, I see the BASIC program now! I never scrolled that far down in the PDF before. One of the drawbacks of electronic manuals for me. Thanks for pointing it out! I will try typing it in tonight.
1200XL M.U.L.E.
I typed in the program and cleaned up the line numbers and code a bit along the way. Now I can seemingly display the plots I had saved earlier. Now ... is there a way to print them on my Atari? Next challenge! @TGB1718 I reran my Google search with your string and all I got was results about ST animations and Jaguar graphics. TGB1718
This is one of the programs I found, it does say it knows Atari 8 Bit .SCR although for a different application, so it may work http://recoil.sourceforge.net/ btw. it does say it's free Edited March 30, 2021 by TGB1718
youxia
There's a plugin for Total Commander which displays .scr images.
1200XL M.U.L.E.
Quick update -- I discovered that MagniPrint ][ can open and print SynGraph's SCR files! ? SynGraph gives you one chance to print your graph. You cannot load it later and print at that time. I thought that was a bit kooky. It's not like the code for a screen dump isn't there somewhere on the disk. I've only started to explore MagniPrint ][. The screens don't always present you with all possible commands and there's no command window. Just type/press whatever you need. It's a little awkward but fairly powerful. Binaries are posted here : css_Print_Star_1988_AMC_Verlag_DE_disk directory listing (archive.org) I think @DjayBee gets the credit for uploading the binaries! A manual can be found here : http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/Atari documents/Manuals/Magniprint_II_Plus.pdf
