Flashback 9 SD Games

Recommended Posts

The first FB from ebay broke.  Found a used good one on amazon for 27 dollars and 43 cents. All is good now.  Update firmware from root of sd as atari_update.  No dot img.

Now SD card shows. But some roms are blue icon and some yellow.  The yellow ones work and the blue ones do not work.  Just blinks and goes back to same screen.

What am I doing wrong?

It HAS to be atari_update.img - I'm guessing your computer has show extensions to off. Which means last time you named it atari_update.img.img and thats why the system didnt see it on the card. Did you update with the official atgames update from their firmware portal?

blue and yellow sd card icons have nothing to do with anything. they are not tied to specific roms. you must just have a coincidence. Every other icon is blue or yellow. if you remove a game from the game folder, everything will shift one place.

there is something wrong with your roms. either they have spaces in the file name, brackets or periods, or are too long, or bad roms, or bad extensions?

that is the up-to-date version number for the standard edition. so you're good.

If your firmware update came from the at games website, its official. if it came from the here at the atari age forums, it is custom firmware.
If you had to rename it from 2.1.1 to atari_update, I'm guessing its the official firmware. I think the custom is already renamed properly.

only way to know for sure is to put an addon pack for use with cfw on the sd card and see if it shows up.
this is the correct cfw for your unit, if you want it:

https://atariage.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=666731

This is the most current addon pack:
https://atariage.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=830873

Now dont go flashing anything different than that. use the sd card ONLY to do it. it HAS to be atari_update.img

if it doesnt work, try adding or removing the .img because... PC settings.

the pack... unzip it and put the contents on a fresh sd card. make sure you delete the atari_update image after you update.

dont leave it on the card or it will ask you every time you turn your system on.

up above is the Custom firmware from here at A.A. forum, for the standard AFB9, made by Brad_from_the_80s

it came from this thread, post number 10:
Flashback 9 Gold CFW to load roms and boxart from SD - AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles - AtariAge Forums

the "control files" from that thread are outdated tho. the new ones are in the addon pack already.
