What Atari 2600 games do you guys and gals still play? What titles do you think hold up?

These days, I rarely find time to play 2600 games. This is probably due to not having a dedicated TV setup with my newly purchased used 2600, nor having my AFBX hooked up to the flatscreen. The only time I do play games is usually through emulator with the specific purpose of achieving a high score in the Atariage HSC.

 

I can see playing any of the 30 or so games on your list on a regular basis, until I achieve rollage. Once I have done that I usually dont replay a non-2p-simultaneous game.

Kaboom and Super Breakout are my main goto 2600 games.  Best way to scratch the itch that only a twitch paddle game can reach.

 

Bit of Yars Revenge and Demon Attack from time to time as well.

Jawbreaker, millipede, Jr pacman, kaboom, enduro, worm war I, amidar, plus lots of other less frequently. I also throw robotron in there since I use a 7800.

I play a ton of 2600 games (original titles and homebrew), but I'll stick to the few that are always in my rotation.

Depends on my mood.

Being unemployed, I got oodles of time playing VCS, but also C64, A8, Playstation 1.

At the moment I'm playing Alien Attack, nice little shooter on the VCS, available from Good Deal Games.

A quick look on my Uno Cart shows I have around 200 titles, about half are homebrews/hacks.  These are the games I play, just not in one session (too old to play marathon sessions), so I break it down.

 

This weekend I'll plan on playing Joust, Space Invaders, Ms PacMan, Pole Position, Video Olympics, Wizard of Wor, Frogger and Millipede.  I'm tempted to add a few more, if I get the chores done in good time.

To be completely honest, my 2600 hasn't even been hooked up in a while now. It's not that I don't want to play, it just seems I don't have the motivation. If I were to play, I'd probably play a homebrew.

I've got my 2600 set up near my work area at home, so I can play during breaks.

I rotate which games I keep out, so its always changing, but here's what's in the mix these days.

For the past half decade, far and away the most played is Mattel's Super Challenge Baseball.

Once you get used to the controls, it is excellent.

 

One thing I have to do though, is figured out how to patch the game to eliminate home runs.

There are times in which there are large numbers of home runs in a game.

We grumble at each other when that happens (this game is two player only)

The usual. Pa cman, pacwoman, pitfall2 pinball and midnight magic, crystal castles, digdug, asteroids, space invaders. Interesting how many chunky rather ugly early games still hold up. When you got a winning formula, you got it, what can I say?

 

I'd play a lot more, but so many are 2p only, unfortunately most my friends have moved and I'm not much of a people personnel anymore

I love Superman... have to play it EVERY time I fire up my system...

 

HOWEVER, that being said, if there was ever a flicker-free version that someone could create... that would be INCREDIBLE!

Some time ago, I quit the "collecting", and kept only what I actually played- Galaxian, Battlezone, Phoenix, Missile Command, Kaboom!, Seaquest, River Raid, Robot Tank, Yar's Revenge, Space Invaders, Mario Bros, Millipede, Frogger, Gyruss, Ms Pacman, Astroblast, Tron Deadly Discs, Tapeworm, Super Breakout, Night Driver, Video Pinball, Joust, and Bowling, maybe couple others.

Since then, I've ordered the Uno cart ,for one of my Sears decks, to use at my work apartment.
