If only people who wanted to play video games in hotels already had a means to do that.  Maybe a small one they could carry in their backpack.  Or even pocket.  Then whatever hotel they stayed at could magically become a "Gaming Hotel".

Many hotels will let you take a bath in your own personal tub. You don´t even have to leave your room. Still, many of those hotels use a lot of money and space to offer a pool. I guess a tiny tub isn´t the same as a big pool.

Ask yourself this question: "Would I actually enjoy spending the night at Chuck E Cheese?"

Let´s instead ask some kids that question. Chuck E Cheese is not exactly optimized for adults to have a good time, yet there are adults there all the time.

Ask yourself this question: "Have I been to Chuck E Cheese?" :)

More recently I can remember seeing a few hotel rooms a couple of decades back with PlaysStations set up in them. They only offered a tiny selection of games though.

A couple of decades ago there were much fewer gamers than there are now. Especially adult gamers, and adults make up most of the visitors. A tiny selection of games doesn´t help of course.

Whenever I go to Las Vegas, My favorite part is the Arcades in the hotels. I never even gambled, I could care less.

Over the years, 1999-2021, arcades have changed. Now when I go to Las Vegas not evey hotel has an arcade and if they do

its all Pac-Man Battle Royale and new games, which is fine, they just aren't the games I want to play from back in the day.
Gameworks is gone, You got CircusCircus and New York, New York, the Pinball museum is always awesome.

I have to go to Chicago and the Galloping Ghost Arcade for the kind of retro experience I'm looking for. Which I will flat out

tell you I would rather go to the GGA than go to Las Vegas. But, I realize, I'm a fucking weirdo and not many other

adults feel like me.

If its a cheesy hotel with ticket games and new shit you find at dave and busters, Ill pass. If its a mix of both and

there is a tekken tag, street fighter 3, etc. types of games, I'll deff check it out.

I don't know about you, but I've never tried to swim in a bathtub and I've never bathed in a swimming pool.

I acknowledge this question is probably going to make discussion circular, but:

It strikes me as particularly important to note that none of any major players in either industry have pitched this, tried this, or done this in the past. (In fact, that may not be true; I am trying to find it, but I thought Warner-era Atari actually DID kick the tires on this, and even at the height of the brand decided it was a loser project.)

Video games have been around for nearly half a century now, and have certainly been ubiquitous for at least 30.

Yet there's nothing like this in Orlando, nothing like this in Vegas, and nothing like this in Anaheim, which are presumably the top places to draw guests within the target market in the United States. If we look internationally, there's none in Japan, either, where one would think such an idea would happen.

Why isn't Nintendo doing this? Why not Sony? Why not the much chagrined and worthless brand that only makes people want to break things Microsoft? (I admit the idea of the Microsoft Excel Presidential Suite would sell like hotcakes!). They have the resources, the cash flow, and could easily make this happen. Yet....crickets.

Is it that Atari in its current form is a trail breaking underdog with chutzpah and a fabulous idea if we just give them a chance, because they've struck pure gold and they're just the first to do this or think of it?

Or could it be that it's not an effective idea and those who have thought of it have disregarded it as a money sink project?  Surely Disney or others would want to integrate video games near their parks or something, right?

(Or am I just salty because I want my Colecovision hotel, DAMN IT ALL?!)

One of these two options has little, if any, proof, and in fact has a track record that shows absolutely the opposite.  I think it's reasonable to assume the latter, rather than the former.

And before the rod strikes the deceased equine yet one more time, I'm aware Elon Musk exists and I'm aware he may have some unique ideas, but I don't recall Elon Musk being involved in this project, so any comparison between Tesla and Atari seems irrelevant.

(My realistic and non-sarcastic expectation is that if an Atari hotel gets off the ground, an unlikely occurrence in and of itself, it will be competing in the same market as Holiday Inn Express, AKA it will get guests because people treat it like any other hotel, rather than a unique and special "destination attraction" - the fact that they want to drop the first in Phoenix of all places indicates to me that it's not intended to be a tourist destination attraction, or more likely that it IS intended as such but the execution is as poor as, well, everything else they've done in the past.)

Closest thing I can think of is the MGM hotel in Vegas. That's not about video games, but it's close enough; a once-great company tries to capitalize on their brand by opening a hotel/entertainment complex. Only Atari is in a worse position then MGM ever was in.

I am guessing it will be mostly conventional video games, with maybe a few rides or something for the smallest kids. It would be strange to use the Atari brand if they planned to mostly offer the other stuff.

In the 90s EVERY las vegas hotel had an arcade or game room of some sort. Treasure Island, Aladdin, Luxor, Hell, The Flamingo Hilton even had one. And most decent hotels across the country had a small game room of some type. nowadays, not so much. I can remember many a vacations that I refused to go out and do stuff with the family and wanted to just stay at the hotel playing whatever fighting game they had. Later in life I went to Vegas (and LA) a lot for pro gaming tournaments. Tekken 3 Nationals was in Las Vegas. That was the greatest time I

ever had on vacation.

Personally, I'm looking forward to an Atari Hotel, but, there can't be many weirdos out there that feel like I do.

You are underscoring my point. Both of them involve immersing your body in enclosed heated water, but they are two different experiences.

well the 1st time i went, I was 19, so I couldn't have gambled if I wanted to. While I'm no stranger to dumping a crap ton of money into a video game (skill) I never could get into the idea of dumping money into a slot machine (luck) hoping it was due to hit.

that said, will the Atari Hotel in vegas have a casino? What about the online Atari Crypto Casino? will that have anything to do with the hotel? Does Atari have any plans for poker/slot machines? like, i know they made jukeboxes back in the day. Since everything new nowadays just looks like a giant mobile app on a giant touchscreen, how hard could it be.

I'm guessing when its all said and done, It's going to look like the inside of the Axiom Spaceship on Wall-E. Just another hotel, and the "theme" is giant LCD screens and billboards everywhere (saying "Buy N Large", lol). Plus an Overpriced Dave & Busters gameroom.

Maybe a pacman and galaga if youre lucky.

They said there will be "onsite gambling". What that means, I don´t know. But I think that if there were to be a real casino, they would have said so.

a virtual casino in Las Vegas? idk what to think about that. What does that even look like? on youre phone? at a PC in your room?

with a crazy universal remote and the rooms tv streaming it? some fancy terminal in a bar area? IDK???

if they can do that in all the other hotels, like a virtual casino in a Chicago Atari hotel would be kind of neat. Is that legal?
I dont see how changing your money to atari crypto tokens bypasses anything. So I'm guessing no. whatever the local

laws say.

Here in illinois, we have gambling machines everywhere, so, it seems like a missed opportunity if they DONT have REAL gambling.

I am sorry, I was unclear. I meant that I was guessing there won´t be roulette tables with croupiers, poker tables with dealers and stuff like that. Instead I guessed that there would be machines on a small scale. I did some more googling and found that they are "looking to include a casino".

I also found out that it will have a nightclub and that the restaurants will be themed.

I get your point, I'm just saying your argument is flawed. Bathtubs and swimming pools are both filled with water, but they serve different purposes, whereas a Nintendo Switch and whatever gaming apparatus Atari puts in its theoreatical hotels serve the same purpose.

Hi-Score Boards across all the hotels.

Virtual Reality type of games/experiences

Casino, Alcohol, Restaurant, Pool, Gym, Actual Arcade

Mix of new and old games, indoor carnival rides, virtual driving ranges, etc.

I have only heard of two hotels: One in the Vegas area and one in the United Arab Emirates, which kinda sounds like a wealthy person over there making their own nerdy hotel to stay at because they feel like it.

Phoenix Arizona is where it says the 1st one is going. Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Jose. also.

Who knows what they will be like if they are made. But according to plans they will have Virtual Reality, bars and a gym in addition to things I have recently mentioned in this thread.

I haven´t read anything about a pool.
