Inky #1 Posted August 12, 2003 My wife just recently picked this up for our GC at a used games store. I kinda like it, although the 'Road Rage' mode is dirctly ripped off of Crazy Taxi (which I also have). I think the game is pretty fun, and the locations in the game are very interesting. The Springfield Dam area is prettty cool IMHO, and I love being Homer in his Mr. Plow. Any thoughts on this one?
bradjewell #2 Posted August 12, 2003 Ive played it for ye ol' Xboxxe and I have to say it doesnt provide some entertainment. Since I am a huge Simpsons addict, it could probably be wolfenstein 3d with simpsons characters.... hmmmm, I may have to break out woldedit. Seriously though, I though it was a pretty fun game. Ive never played crazy taxi myself, but i do think the premise would be fun enough for some good 2 player action. For 20 bucks, you definitely cant go wrong with it. I still need to pick up as one of the xbox platinum hits. Brad
Gunstar #3 Posted August 12, 2003 Didn't this game come out for the DC too? Or was it another Simpsons title? Also, if a simpsons game did come out for the DC, how is it? Anyone ever play the South Park DC game? How is that one?
+kisrael #4 Posted August 12, 2003 Didn't this game come out for the DC too? Or was it another Simpsons title? Also, if a simpsons game did come out for the DC, how is it? Anyone ever play the South Park DC game? How is that one? They had Chef's Love Shack, which was just as bad as on N64, but with hideous loadtimes to go along with it. A Mario-Pary wanna be, with a small number of would be ok minigames that were hurt by there being no AI players if you weren't playing w/ a full house--and most of the games were a lot less fun with only 1 or 2 characters... Anyway, Simpsons Road Rage is a pretty darn decent Crazy Taxi clone...though it improves on the original with its head to head mode. Do any of the Crazy Taxi series have that? My favorite line: some passenger says something random and then Krusty says "Heh. Goyem."
Gunstar #5 Posted August 12, 2003 So Simpsons Road Rage IS on the DC then? No, Crazy Taxi didn't have a two player mode, so that is a bonus on the Simpson game.
Vic George 2K3 #6 Posted August 12, 2003 I thought it was an interesting take on Crazy Taxi, using Simpsons characters and all, but not something I'd buy for a game collection.
+kisrael #7 Posted August 12, 2003 I thought it was an interesting take on Crazy Taxi, using Simpsons characters and all, but not something I'd buy for a game collection. I think the more interesting "take on Crazy Taxi" is the head to head mode...though all the soundsamples don't hurt either. I'd say it's worth picking up because it's fun and cheap. I don't think it came out for DC tho.
Jasoco #8 Posted August 12, 2003 No, Road Rage wasn't on DC. It started on PS2 I believe and eventually came to GCN and Xbox. I got the GCN version and it is THE BEST Simpsons game ever. That's counting all the crappy licensed games Simpsons were in in the past. This is the best and actually has playability. I can't wait for the Simpsons Hit and Run (I think it's a racing game) and the Futurama games. Those look soo damn cool. At one point I played Road Rage so much I couldn't go back to my Crazy Taxi so I traded it in. (It was the GCN version. I am kicking myself now.) Now I have CT on my DC and RR on my GCN. They really whored out the license, going all the way back to the NES! Like that weird one with Krusty the Klown and all the mice, kind of a Lemmings-genre-ish puzzle game if memory serves. There was a very good arcade game too, based on the TMNT four player engine. I think I MAME'd that all the way through at one point. (followup: duhhr, any sentence of the form "I wonder if there's a site..." should immediately be followed by a Google search, which found Noiseland Arcade.) chrisbid #10 Posted August 13, 2003 i was about to say, the Arcade simpsons game was by Konami and it was based off of the TMNT arcade game, it rocked, easily the best simpsons game ever road rage is decent, but it is a direct ripoff of crazy taxi. however it is waaaaaay better than simpsons wrestling or skateboarding, or krusty's fun house, or bart vs the space mutants, etc, etc... Jasoco #11 Posted August 13, 2003 YES! The Simpsons Arcade game. The one I have wanted to play for YEARS! But I have been unable to find a ROM or anything to play it. I have MacMAME, but no ROM and even the ROM's I do have for that don't work. I kept hoping through the SNES age that they'd port it to SOME system. Now I can't even find the cabinet much. (Even though I couldn't afford it if I could.) Funny thing is it was based on the early days of The Simpsons when Mr. Smithers was evil. Even more so than Mr. Burns. You know? I hope that I either find a ROM or they decide to put the game out for a system even as a bonus in another game. I NEED OT PLAY IT!
liquid_sky #12 Posted August 13, 2003 But I have been unable to find a ROM or anything to play it. I have MacMAME, but no ROM and even the ROM's I do have for that don't work. Odd, winmame emulates the one i have

+kisrael #16 Posted August 13, 2003 Wasn't there A Simpons game of some type released on the DC? I thought there was... Well, playing with GameFAQs search engine, no game had the word "Simpsons" "Bart" "Homer" or "Springfield" in the title, so I'm guessing probably not. Jasoco #17 Posted August 13, 2003 I thought that Simpsons fighting game fiasco was on the DC. Maybe I'm mistaken and it was just the PSX.
Jasoco #18 Posted August 14, 2003 Heh. I just beat the entire Simpsons Arcade game. I sorta cheated though. I set all the players to the same controller buttons and just credited all 4 a million times and started a 4 player game using just me as the whole family. Anyway, it was pretty cool to observe. It must have been put together before April 29th 1990, VERY early in the series because Sideshow Bob is in it and he plays a GOOD guy. If it were after the "Krusty Gets Busted" episode, he wouldn't have been in it. Instead it would have been Sideshow Mel. Ironically, a fake Krusty plays a bad guy. Though some things are questionable. Moes Tavern is underground in this one and is a huge long building. I liked the Dreamland stage. It was pretty cool. Oh, and the funny part was the bonus "HIT THE BUTTONS!" rounds where all 4 players won every time and I entered the same initials at the same time for all 4. Guess you could say I figured out how to use MacMame.

So I should download WinMAME and play the Simpsons Arcade Game? That can be done? (d'oh!) I loved that game though. There must be at least one system capable of doing that game because I never saw it on a console when I was younger.
Jasoco #20 Posted August 16, 2003 Hey, it was a great game and one I'd love to have in my room for the cool factor. I remember the Ground Round used to have it, but we only went once in a while and I only got to PLAY it once and saw it many times, but I remember the whole intro. It was cool. And with Mame, you NEVER run out of quarters.
BeerGnome #21 Posted August 20, 2003 I love playing the simpsons arcade.. and tahnks to my Side winder game pads.. i can now play two player. I'm pretty sure its my computer.. but I have to turn the sound off for the game to make it run aprciably over all the mame version runs decent with sound.. but the sound is jumpy and effects frame rate.. turn off the sound.. fantastic..no problem
AtariDude #22 Posted August 25, 2003 I remember having the PC version of this game a long time ago. I did manage to beat the game only once but luckily my cousin was there to back me up that I did beat it. One of the arcades outside one of my local movie theatres since has the arcade cabinet in working condition. I thought about playing it again but decided that it would have cost too much given my lack of skills at that game.
+kisrael #23 Posted August 25, 2003 On a related note, EGM says Simpson's "Hit and Run" is supposed to be looking really good, a GTA:VC spoofish thing.
Osbo #24 Posted August 26, 2003 my wife got me simpsons road rage for my b-day (she knows i'm a simpsons fan) it's a little bit more interesting than crazy taxy, springfield it's pretty well done with the roads and free ways and u can practically drive everywhere.
