Starcat #1 Posted August 12, 2003 Hi ! Now that two new Jag games are going to be available soon. (Mad Bodies and Painter), just out of curiosity would you rather pay more for a game on a professional mastered cd with lable and maybe a package like Painter for example (no idea in what package mad bodies will be sold) or do you prefer low cost new games as only CDR with a homeprinted lable ? Maybe this is also a good chance to ask Terance, in what package will Mad Bodies be sold ? Do you have a release date yet ? Regards, Lars.
K3V #2 Posted August 12, 2003 We went through this a few months back: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ght=mastered+cd I still prefer to pay a little more to have a professional-looking package over a generic CD in a sleeve.
Gunstar #3 Posted August 12, 2003 Why not both? there are many who just have a Jag to play games and could care less about packaging and then there are those of us (like myself) that are collectors and want as professional a job as possible; a box to put in our libraries with the rest. The end result would probably mean more sales doing both anyway, because you'd get those that may otherwise shy away because of the higher price of a more professionally done package (this would probably also discourage piracy too, if it can be had for cheap, since most pirates obviously don't care about packaging). As a developer, you should feel that real packaging is a way to protect your work from being duplicated as well, since anyone with a CD-RW, a scanner and an inkjet can make clones of your office-supply-store CDs and packaging and sell them on ebay. I pay more for quality packaging.

JagWarlord #6 Posted August 13, 2003 Dont forget Shrinkwrap. I like my games to have shrinkwrap on them so I can keep an extra copy nice and sealed. -Mike
+Saturn #7 Posted August 13, 2003 Hell Yeah! I'd be willing to pay extra for some type of professional packaging etc. Still holds true..
Mendon #8 Posted August 13, 2003 I can go both ways on this issue.... I like having a complete package with box and instructions (box insert if cartridge) and would prefer having it this way. But it also depends on the price. For example, if BSG came with the choice of a black cart or clear cart and there was a $5 or $10 price difference between them I'd probably go with the clear. But if the price difference was, say $20 or $30 bucks, I'd probably go the cheaper route. Same with Air Car's.. if it came with a nice box I'd be willing to pay more but it would depend on how much more before I'd actually commit. I like the packaging on Painter and was money well spent. I also picked up American Hero at CGE and am happy with that package, although its not as nicely presented. The package is nice but in the end its the games, man, the games.
