Turbografx Collections?

Recommended Posts

I was playing Neutopia on the TG16 last night (GREAT game) and got wondering. When is there going to be a compilation of some of those great TG16 games for the modern consoles? I want a collection that has these on it for the GC and the GBA:

Military Madness (I know Advance Wars is similiar)

Neutopia 1 & 2

All of the Bonk's Adventures

Galaga '90

Blazing Lasers

What else would you guys want on it?

Gimme all of them! :)

There has been word out that Hudson is in the process of reprogramming the Bonk games for the Gamecube.. but it would be awfully nice of them to release these for the GBA. It would also be nice to see Hudson start taking advantage of their nice back-catalogue.

Nice...

That's pretty much what I was thinking - they have large catalog of kickass games so why not make some dough off of them and make me happy too?

@joeybastard: Maybe you need to get yourself a TurboExpress.

I have one, but I find it impractical to use much because of the battery life.. otherwise I love it.

I almost bought one at a local classic game place last Xmas. I opted to spend the $80 on a ton of carts instead because I wasn't sure what a Turboexpress should sell for. Is $80 reasonable for one? I can't go by Ebay prices becuase they seem to flucuate wildly.

$80 is good, just check the screen for burnt out pixels first. A good way to test is with a stationary "title" or "game over" screen which is mostly one colour. A burnt pixel will always stay the same colour. If the system has more than 2-3 burnt pixels, it might bug you down the road.

I think you can usually pick up a new one on eBay for ~$150.

TG-16 was one of my favs.. I got a buttload of games and a whole lotta imports with a converter and other doodads. What's kind of sad though is I was in College (i.e. young and dumb) when the tg16 was hot.. so I shoplifted a good percentage of my games :| Yeah yeah.. it was dumb. But hey, I was drunk ;)

Don't forget that Nectaris: Military Madness (one of my all time favorites of all time :D) was released for the psx as well. You should be able to find a copy pretty easily. Also, I'll take this opportunity to once again extoll the virtues of Xbox emulation. Hugo-X is up to v.9 I think and does a pretty good job of playing the majority of TG16/PCE/Turbo CD games on a convenient all in one console. Otherwise, if you're using a pc for your emu, then Magic Engine is the way to go. Yeah it's great playing it on the real thing, but like I always say, the real thing is the best, emu's are convenient.

My favs (yeah they're typical):

Military Madness

Blazing Lazers

Bonk series

Legendary Axe

Ninja Spirit

Street Fighter 2.. I went out of my way to travel to Japan to snag this.. so it's by default my preffered console version:D

I love my TG-16, and my TG Express is cool too... too bad it sucks batteries and isn't exactly a pocket system! Try carrying that thing around in your pocket and you might be arrested for terrorism or public indecency. I think the sound on mine is shot... maybe I should take it out of my pants.
