Hello guys and girls and ...

I recently switched my site from http to https, but unfortunately haven't been able yet to get a certificate.  I've contacted my provider about this and asked for their help (their description of how to get one via their customer portal resulted in an error message).  Until this is fixed, your browser will probably tell you that you can't trust my site (  :?  :ponder: :spidey: :_( ) and pictures that are linked from my site probably will not show (here on AtariAge).  I hope to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Sincerely

Mathy

PS if my site tries to offer you some cookies, please a) deny and b) tell me.  I hope to add my own cookie-statement at some point in time, but first need some pictures.

Trust me, I am DOS 3.0, I will make your drive better and faster and give you true double density.

But, you are a liar, you don't offer true double density and you are wasting a lot of space!

Trust me, I am DOS 4.0, I will configure your drive better and give you DSDD.

And you are another liar, there's no ramdisk, no medium density, no DOS 2 compatibility, no...

Trust me, I am DOS XE, I will offer you time&date stamps, subdirs and whatnot.

Ha, you are another liar, you offer date, but not time, you want queries for everything, you have illogical and awkward menus and you are wasting my time.

Trust me, I am Mathy's (MyDOS) webpage.

Should I really trust you ?

@Mathy, as long as you don't offer a login or use cookies for (secure) authentification, and aslong you edit your html-sites with gedit/pluma/xed/VSCode... there is no need for a https connection.

Pure html (non-PHP) sites don't need https at all. This is useless security.

I circumvent this whole issue by hosting at weebly, allowing them to keep certs updated without my intervention. I do end up with a small floating dock on each one of my pages linking back to their services, but I think that's a small price to pay for a free website, and of course I always have the option to get rid of it by paying.

BITD I use to pay for hosting, write my own html from scratch, and upload it via ftp. But now days with these integrated hosting/webcreators being so much nicer to use, website creation and maintenance has become a breeze. Also the end result doesn't end up looking like something from the 90's ;) .  Most of these places also allow for easy integration of shopping carts. In fact I'm surprised that more people selling 8-bit gear don't do this instead of using PMs.

I think some browsers balk at anything without https: without even checking whether any of those things are used.

Depending on your local tax laws, having a website with a shopping cart might shout "commercial activity" a lot louder than selling via PMs. I am neither selling stuff nor advocating tax evasion, but at least here having a webshop would be considered an indication of commercial activity rather than being a hobbyist selling stuff occasionally (which in turn would probably oblige you to pay for a minimum fee membership in the chamber of commerce).

Some strange answers here...  Keep at it Mathy, I'm cheering for you!

Don't worry, I know Andreas and Mirko personally.  Have met both more than a couple of times in the last ... 30 years I guess.

Sincerely

Mathy
