Sorry this is a bit late.  Since there's a timer on this one, go ahead and point press whichever way you'd like including sacrificing a life to replay a section of the game.

Oh boy I can get a huge score with point pressing allowed. Awesome.

You can reset the timer in certain areas by re-entering them. That should be explicitly forbidden. Also the glitch in level 2 where you hit an invisible enemy to fill up your hearts (I never do this even when playing casually because it feels cheap). Although it looks like glitch exploitation is already covered in the general rules.

Maybe burning lives for points should be okay in this instance since you only get three lives.

Game glitch exploits are definitely off limits.  For simplicity I think we should avoid replaying any area whether that be reentering it to reset the timer or intentionally losing a life to start a section over.

However I also understand that it's a risk/reward scenario to spend a life to try and grab more points.  Does anyone else have an opinion on whether we want to allow this?

I think sacrificing lives should be allowed.  By the way, I asked you about your decision to combine the leader boards in the BreakThru thread but you didn't respond.

I will most likely just try to get as far as possible in the game and take whatever score I get. That said, I'm up for any rules that are chosen, like "die for points", which sounds like a hardcore motto for this club.

Just a heads up, the season standings list doesn't include BreakThru.  Not sure if any arcade scores were left out, as well.

Now it does.

I'm thankful for the arcade scores this season and that I'm good at some of those games.

I wasn't ignoring you.  I just haven't been on here in a while which is why I was late posting this round.

You beat me to the punch.  We're all up to date now.  Thanks for the reminder though.

That's good enough for me.  I'll update the rules.  @fakecortex Put me down for a bumper sticker.

I played plenty of double dragon on the arcades in the late 80s, which ended up with me buying the Amiga port, which was kinda crap.

I think it's been maybe 30 years since I played this game, but when I started it felt off. Slow and plodding. Almost like a different game. I ended up enjoying it despite it and checked the arcade original afterwards.

And yes, the NES plays very differently, slower, but somehow I had more fun with it. Feels a bit deeper and more fair. What what are those hearts? Level ups?

The hearts give you moves and get filled up as you fight enemies. One of the most useful moves is the elbow that you get after six hearts. It's the strongest attack in the game.

Double Dragon -- 103,100

Played enough over the past few days to where I can finish the game now, but I’m not sure where any point pressing opportunities are.  May revisit a few more times to see if I can squeeze out some more.

I was so disappointed with this game as a kid.  Big fan of the arcade, then I picked this up to play with a friend, and nope.  Then when I started playing, couldn’t do all the moves until you “learn them.”  I remember thinking, these guys should probably already know how to fight before they jump in there.

Plus, it didn't feel like the "real" double dragons.  Where was Spike and Hammer with the matching bro tatoos????

Once I got over that initial butthurt, I liked it quite a bit.
