Intellivision Variants

Recommended Posts

I actually remembered I went down the rabbit hole of the 2 large lots I still have to catalog. And I did it deep enough to identify the boxes without slots on back...

We discussed about the boxes without slots some years ago in this thread:

The same subject was also broached more recently in this thread:

After combining the lists and the pictures already shown in this forum it's possible to put down a draft list of the boxes without slots which can be found in Europe and Australia:

Armor Battle

Astrosmash

Auto Racing

Baseball

Bowling

Hockey

Lock'n'Chase

LV Poker & Blackjack

Sea Battle

Skiing

Soccer

Space Armada

Space Battle

Tennis

Just for the heck of it, here is the spreadsheet I use to track the variants that I have or am looking for.  I think it is mostly self-explanatory, but maybe not. It also includes all the manuals and cartridges that I have and which box they are in. Sometimes there are more manuals than boxes and indicated by the box type in parentheses.

Ciao Steve,
Thanks a lot for sharing with us this outstanding spreadsheet, lot of know-how in it!

I will cross it with mine, add all missing variants and post mine too, that has also some description, useful for the beginners like me...

I do need to go back and differentiate between the lifestyle bottom stickers.

HK Stick is a sticker the color of the box (on the bottom) that says everything is made in Hong Kong (including overlays)

CatStick is a sticker the color of the box (on the bottom) that says the catalog is printed in the USA on an otherwise HK box.

Your 0410 copy does not have the slots back for manual, right?

In such a case for Chess we would have three variants not listed in Intvfunhouse: the 0910 made in Hong Kong and the 0410 with and without slots back for manual.

I don't count the supposed 0910-G1 mentioned by Sharkcharmer (you have to open your sealed copy and check if it's a G1!!!)

I take full responsibility for this wayward discussion. . .  I was too liberal with my use of “G1-style” as a description, which was meant to denote a box without a reference to the KBC.  But clearly there were a ton of 0910 titles released that never referenced the KBC, so this was a poor description.  My bad! ???

Is it safe to assume that an empty cell in the "Acquired" column = you're likely still after the indicated game / box / cart / manual / etc.?

Thank you for the explanation!

Yes, those are the ones that I don't have that I have bothered to enter in to the spreadsheet.

You must be right, thanks, since I bought it in UK!

As soon as I’ll receive it I’ll check the bottom, I should find a reference to Advanced Consumer Electronics right?

If you zoom in you can see it on the bottom of the box

You can add Tron DD and Frog Bog to the list. I can't make out the contents but they are from Australia.

Yes! Now that you told me I could see it in the first line!?

I try to list the national distributors that gave origin to variants, with stickers or text printed directly on the box:

1 - Lifestyle Electronics - Australia

2 - Miliuonics - South Africa

3 - Cori Investments - Canada? Hong Kong?

4 - Aurimat - Mexico

5 - Digiplay - Brazil

6 - Digimed - Brazil

7 - Advanced Consumer Electronics - UK

8 - Proein SA - Spain (from the paper that @Rev posted, does anyone have ever seen a game ?)

9 - Teknokom Bilgisayar - Turkey (from the paper that Rev posted, ever seen a game?)

What about Bandai - Japan?

Arab countries?

Other distributors you are aware of that did personalize the games boxes?

Last question: how is it possible that for Intellivision Inc and INTV Corporation there nothing at all? There must be something…

Well, the Arabic Intellivision is an INTV System III, so if there are Arabic boxes, they might be Intellivision Inc or INTV Corp.

All the Bandai games that i have seen have distinctive Bandai manuals visible through the shrink in the slotted 0410 boxes (which I think is the reason for the slots - so that the language of the manual is visible to the purchaser without requiring a new box)

Thank you Hankster!

Tron seems to be "manufactured by Mattel Electronics HK, I can’t understand Frog Bog.
In any case those two games were not in the leaflet and bring total number at 36, 5 still to be documented…

Interesting…

Let’s see if one day an arabic box will pop out!

it looks like a local legit (?) distributor existed (Ecico Electronics) which also bothered to add its logo on the console. I wouldn't be surprised if that company had printed some stickers to put on the bottom flap of game boxes just like Lifestyle Electronics did in Australia

from what's stated on the guarantee leaflet owned by cmart Ciro Investments definitely operated in Hong Kong:

I think Digimed and Digiplay were the same company. At a certain point Digimed changed its name to Digiplay. Actually their headquarters were at the same address (Rua Acará, before Digiplay moved to Av. Açai).

I have been reading through this thread a bit although I dont collect variants.

I was given 20 or so random boxed Intellivision games from an old friend.

Only one caught my eye and I was wondering if one of you guys needed this box.

It has a little tear on the spine so to me it became worthless.

Any takers? Its free.
