Hello guys

I'm gonna put this info here, because I keep looking for it and can almost never find it.

BTW It's not mine, I did not write it, edit it, etc.

The information was found here and here where you will also find the source code and a windows file.  The picture below is of the windows software.  I'm not sure if (this version of) TMC2 will support quad pokey.

Here's the contents of the README.TXT:

---

                        Theta Music Composer 2.0

TMC 2.0 is a successor of my TMC 1.xx program, which has been written in the
years 1996-1997. It is a program for composing and replaying music with Atari
XL/XE built-in soundchip called POKEY. One of many such programs - we may say.

But it has following positive features:

- Accepts stereo and quadro upgrades (2 or 4 built-in POKEY chips).
- Music is replaying only with standard operations on POKEY sound
generators, with no software tricks, such as IRQ interrupts, counter reseting,
or direct signal operating (samples).
- Works with frequency of 50, 100, 150 and 200 Hz (from 1 upto 4 times per
frame).
- Ability to create 128 instruments, 256 patterns and 256 lines in one song.
- Ability to operate a volume and detail sound features (such as vibratio,
arpeggio) in a pattern, and ability to operate a pitch of all pattern sound in
a song.
- Ability to compose on 8 stereo tracks (16 channels). In non-quadro modes some
of channels are cutted off.
- Ability to change tempo and pattern lenght.
- Ability to work on a marked fragment of pattern or instrument.
- Ability to global change of volume, pitch, and number of an instrument.

    And following negative ones:

- Data of one instrument takes up to 273 bytes.
- Data of one pattern takes up to 256 bytes.
- Data of one line of song takes up to 17 bytes.
- Playing all channels 4 times per frame takes almost 100% of processor time (
turning off the screen may be needed).
- Number of options is so extremely big, that no one can remember all of them.

All of that causes, that TMC 2.0 is probably the most advanced music program
for 8-bit computers, and which has grown up to such a size, that only a maniac can
use it (and not go nuts).

Although all of that I wish a productive and fruitful composing for all
musicians. Let the whole world know the power of Atari!!!

Payroll:

Author: Jaskier/Taquart

English translation: Jurgi/Tristesse (please don't mind inaccurate English, typing errors and so on)

Ideas and testing: the Greyscale group (Greg, X-Ray, BeWu), Fox/Taquart, Raster/
C.P.U., Pinokio (and his long nose), Yerzmyey, Sukkor Benoth, Emkay, Tebe,
Tatqoo, Lewis, Epi and many many others.

---

Sincerely

Mathy

Where are the other 2 POKEYs mapped in relation to the first, in POKEYmax?  Had thought about hacking my own hacked Mrs. Pac Man 7800 music routine for this ...

The 4 pokeys are at: D200,d210,d220,d230

That’d be cool! Please please :)

Will do, and will post results in my own thread so as to not hijack this one too much.  :)

Wouldn't it be better to create a completely new thread for Quad Pokey music tracks instead of using an existing thread?

Sincerely

Mathy
