What's a good, basic sample autoexec.bat and config.sys for DOS 3.10 on an XT?

Pretty much what the title said. Just the necessary stuff. I only remember how to set the path and the old "PROMPT $P$G" line. I remember ECHO, but I don't know if that's available in DOS 3.10. Most of the stuff I searched the web for only has stuff in there that's specific to later DOS versions or for computers with sound cards, but I want to stick to the time period for the old 5160 XT.

device=c:\dos\ansi.sys

autoexec.bat:

echo off
path c:\dos
prompt $p$g

This is pretty basic.

Thank you for that, gonna use it. If there's anything left out that you think I could use (such as speeding up the XT), please let me know. Otherwise, I'm gonna use this.

Not much you can do with the XT aside from enabling ansi graphics with ansi.sys.

 

It cannot access memory above 1mb, so you cannot use the HMA, or things of that nature.

Depending on the software, it may be necessary to increase Files and Buffers from the defaults. Even something as simple as Kermit needs Files=20 and Buffers=20.

So in config.sys, it should read like this:

Yeah. Generally I put them at the top but it doesn't matter.
