Charlie_
Anyone have a fixed version of Jr. Pac-man? I have two roms on my USB cart but both seem to have the bug. Thanks!
Charlie_
Some searching around I discovered the 5200 version was never fixed. It was fixed for the A8 computers. Too bad.. It's one great game. Here is the thread about it

I just tried your rom and yes, it has the bug. It happens if you die while an item is destroying a power pellet. When you start the next life the power pellet is still there with the animation of it being destroyed. It can't be eaten so you can't finish the maze. Let's hope someone ports the fixed version back to the 5200 as this is one hard but fantastic game.
Tempest
Bummer. But the 8-bit version doesn't have it?

I think I can provide that (finished?) 8-bit version for someone to do that for you, I don't know if it has any bugs in it or not but it's worth a try. There's also a 64K version of it as well that is on the 5200, here it is, try it and see if it has that bug in it. Tempest
Does anyone know the providence of the Atari 8-bit rom that's floating around out there? Is it a real 8-bit rom or is it just a hacked 5200 rom? I had a real proto for the 8-bit version of Jr. Pac-Man at one point but I appear to no longer have the rom: http://www.atariprotos.com/8bit/software/jrpacman/71084.htm
Kr0tki
This ROM is/was being sold on reproduction cartridges by Best Electronics. Best claims that it comes from a prototype cartridge in their possession. (Search for "CB103022" on this page.) Glenn the 5200 Man converted the game to the 8-bits back in the day, and it is evident when you compare the 5200 proto with Glenn's file version. The file version basically contains the straight dump of the 5200 ROM, with some minor modifications to handle the differences between the two platforms, and some additional loader routines. But if you compare the 5200 proto with the 8-bit cartridge ROM, there is a lot of differences - the two ROMs are not directly comparable at all. I believe the 8-bit ROM is a legitimate prototype. (That, of course, does not rule out the possibility of Best modifying it before they released it.) Edited July 17, 2021 by Kr0tki
