Wasn't exactly sure there WERE tips for this, but definitely a couple things.

Obviously, you have to get off the initial island FAST-1.5 seconds is about as much as you wanna allow, 1.3 is better.

You don't really steer the raft by pressing the disc left and right-you press UP on the disc, and steer it from the top arc of the disc.

Takes some getting used to, but you'll get good raft control after a while, the tiniest movement can move the raft, it feels right after a short period.

Posting a video-

Rick-this is NOT a submission time for this tourney, this was months ago.

I've gone faster, but this vid is really short, and will show you the route I attempt to take!

That was fun to watch, thanks for the video.you are a real barrel bully!?

I went and watched it again, you blasted 3 barrels out of the way, awesome!!!

Haha-I was really in an overall zone on the game, you can REALLY get accurate control with the tiniest of movements, but you can tell at the end of the vid, even I am going "Holey Moley, What Just Happened!!!".

:)

I grinded on this game SOOO hard, please don't think it didn't take a lot of arm-wrenching work to get good, was more of a "specialist" game for me, right up my alley!

That WAS my fastest time, up to that video, so I got to submit it elsewhere, as a "one and done", that definitely stroked my ego, haha!

Thank You!!! A lot! Made me feel good!

I know,I recognize the practice and luck, skill, all that it takes to get a great time.

I guarantee I will never get a run that fast,be proud oh great water warrior!??‍♂️

White water steals the show!

I'm actually "out" haha, I had to force myself to put the INT and the game on the shelf-recently diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, that game+the disc is just a bit too much.

Spent mebbe even hours tho, trying to catch your game 2 time, 37.2 was about the best I came up with, disappointed in me, and def props to you, that's a fantastic time, no way you can go that fast w/o excellent boat control-the game is MUCH more skill based than what I thought when I first played it, not sure you can even break 40 seconds on game 2 by being "lucky".

Have Fun, Guys!

Coincidentally-I don't much love Pinball, tbh, but Whitewater pinball to me is hands down the best table ever!!!

:)

Sorry to hear that, you should've rested! :)

I saw your video: very Inspirational, thanks... I got a couple of spots where I can improve.

white water what a game... Even back then as a kid I recall considering it a "next level" game, so different and fresh from your average shooter. But such were Imagic games, funky games!

Well-part of me thinks I am full of hoo-hoo, but when I was "in the zone", it seemed like I could nip whirlpools and actually gain speed-for as old as the game is, the river seems very, very "alive" for the time, as best as A.I. could get, I think, and easily unnoticable, but you can totally "find the flow" and get crazy speed!

Good Luck improving!!!

I don't scour the 'net, only here and my other main haunt(TG), but I do think most of my times are the actual "fastest on video" times! :D

Thanks, and again, best of luck!!!

Hi guys,

It's been quite a while since I last took part in a HSC so I thought I'd dust off the Intellivision and give this one a go!

These are both games I've never played before so it'll be good to have the chance to try them out.

Here's my best scores so far for White Water.

(I'm still trying to get to grips with Dreadnaught Factor so no scores to post yet - level 5 is hard!!) ?

White Water

Game 1: 1:02.2

Game 2: 49.0

Welcome back!  Good to have ya!!

As for Dreadnaught Factor, I recommend messing around with level 3 and 4 first before heading straight to level 5.  5 can be brutal! Great game though, hope you enjoy it.

It looks like my participation in this HSC will be a little shorter than expected! My raspberry pi-based Ultimate Intellivision Flashback has stopped recognising my Flashback controllers for some reason and I can't get it to find them (it just says "no gamepad detected"). Has anyone else had this happen to them?

If I can get them to work again I'll give Dreadnaught Factor another go but otherwise I'll have to give up on posting a score for this round unfortunately. ?

I'd create a topic in the general Intellivision section so people that have a rpi/upci can comment.  You can try opening it up to see if a usb cable has slipped out or plug in alternative controllers.

Awesome Job!!!

Actually, the couple good buddies I have here in this HSC weren't around earlier in my "scoring days"-

I like being the stick as much as I like high scores.

Making someone else have to do better-even if they beat me, makes me oddly proud for some reason, and also happy for them, in all reality I'm NOT a good "competitor".

Very good run, but I still bet you'll go faster than that one day!

:D
