Frozone212
The PCS center in lodi burnt down (It was a program i briefly went to). I had the IT team get a mint condition 800 to allow me to teach the students programming. Would it be salvageable? yes or no? It had all the cords and stuff too this area: Person Centered Services, Inc. #3 - Lodi, CA | CareListings (I started on BASIC it was always easy to start with and i was hoping to eventually leave with it and start my collection but alas
Rybags
403 Forbidden on that page. Burnt computer? If that's the case then it might be more time, effort and almost as much in parts vs just buying another one.
_The Doctor__
This fire? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SBd_i0Idls
Mclaneinc
Have you got pictures of the 800, we can make a better guess from that.. I'd guess that if it got too hot, the plungers would split, so the keyboard would be a nightmare.. All guess work without a picture off the Atari.. Mclaneinc
I just wondered if you had a picture of the damaged machine, I own an 800 so know what they look like If it was fire damaged, I'd look for another machine...They are a lovely machine, good luck.. +orpheuswaking
If they can retrieve it from the location then it can't hurt to take a look at it.

Sugarland
Yes some of the chips at least are probably salvageable unless the computer was burned to a crisp. All depends on if it burned. Water from fire hoses will not really damage it but in that instance it will need to be fully taken apart, cleaned and dried.

It would be very interesting to find out, pull it from rubble and attempt to fire-it up, in stages... ??
_The Doctor__
I had a melted 130XE that still worked... it survived a 3rd floor apartment fire, smelled like a camp fire whenever it warmed up. It was given to a friend who used it until he graduated college... don't know where the XE ended up after that... probably still making someone hungry for smores!
