Traveling with LTO Flash Intellivision

Recommended Posts

The LTO Flash for Intellivision has opened up new possibilities. I took it with me to North Myrtle in South Carolina, set it up at the resort, and ignored the beach - except for 3 or 4 hours of hunting shark teeth.

I never would have considered bringing an intellivision with me in the car. Not enough room to bring all the games, plus who would want to? But combined with the smaller form-factor intv II, the LTO FLASH, loaded up with most of main games, is a sensible pairing for travel.

For portability (smaller and lighter) and newer TV compatibility (HDMI) that you'd find in hotels you should look into building an Ultimate Intellivision Flashback

I recommend building one yourself so you get the inner-workings knowledge of what's under the hood.  There's a few of us here that can give pointers and support along the way.

If not, then reach out to ByteKnight for his building service.

The only downside would be the LTO-only ROMs will not be available to you.

food for thought

Just RGB mod your Inty model II and you'll be set. ;)

All you'll need besides that and your Lto Flash is an upscaler of some sort.. I recommend the Retrotink 2x-Scart, but a cheap Scart to HDMI Amazon/eBay scaler will work fine too.

I bought a SegaRGB-to-hdmi cable for $30 on Amazon. It came with a converter (32X-to-OG Genesis) so I sacrificed half of that converter to connect to the Crayon King's RGB board, and let it pigtail out the back of the Intellivision.

If you want to consider drafting up a blog post of some kind or even make a PDF, I'd be happy to pass on to the Artifacts Division of Intv Prime for inclusion in the new FAQ. Lots of people end up looking for that kind of info, newbies and experienced folks alike.

Wish I could revise my post.. I now recommend the OSSC over the Retrotink 2x-Scart. ? I played around with it some more and on the 5x, 4:3 generic profile it looks way better than anything I tried before. Whether it's hooked up through Component cables (YUV/YpbPr) or Scart, it looked amazing either way. ?

I'll probably stick with the 8-pin XRGB style Scart cable over Component though. The Sega 9-pin Scart would work too, if I change out the port to match. Pretty pleased with it for the time being!
