awbacon
of all the games on the Capcom CPS Mercs is the one I've played the most because I just love it
roots.genoa
I love that game too. It was the first game my brother and I played on an arcade cabinet in the ferry to England. The Genesis port was the first game we got for the console along Quackshot.

Actually that's where I discovered most arcade games I know, even though later on there was a annual fair not far from where I live. Since my brother and I were sea sick, we would ask our father his bag of pounds to play arcade games, and we would give it back a lot lighter... ? Mercs was a sole cabinet the first time (or the second?) we took the ferry, but later there would be a small arcade room with maybe 16-20 cabinets. We played Virtua Fighter, World Heroes, The Simpsons, etc.

schuwalker
Mercs was sorta of a rare bird bitd. Not as widely spread as the other CPS-1 games. I wonder if it's attributed to that monster cab it was in.
roots.genoa
Off the top of my head, I can't name another 3-player cabinet, so it could explain why it's rare.
str0m
Yes everytime I went on holiday with my parents from the UK to France/Spain and I got on the ferry I would immediately run around to find the small arcade! They normally had a Neo Geo MVS and a few other cabs. It was in the 90s I last went on one but found a few pics here of someone who went on one of the English Channel ferries after that, much bigger arcade http://planetharriers.blogspot.com/2013/11/pirates-of-english-channel.html Edited August 12, 2021 by str0m Update

These pictures are recent indeed but I'm quite sure the room was the same (in terms of size and even colors) in the 90s...
