I'm not sure what Intelligentleman's method is, but I thought I'd have a quick go to see what the game's like. I've never played it before amazingly enough, though I used to love playing Track & Field and Hyper Sports at the arcade!

So, these are probably rubbish scores, but someone has to go first! ?

Nice first time scores gez. ?

Intelligentlemen doesn't really have a technique that I know about, my point in mentioning him was that he likes to use two controllers at the same time. Not so much a technique per se, but just that he likes to use two controllers for a bunch of games. ?

Ah I see! I did try using two controllers for the 100m after reading your post, but I couldn't do any better than with just using one.

I'm miles away from 11.5 secs for the 100 though, so my technique clearly needs some work!

I'm sure you'll show us how it's done in due course! ?

Never played this one before, but will give it a shot after I get back from this week's Space games.  ;)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but being that you don't like Auto Racing / Skiing / Motocross, this game probably won't be in your wheel house either... Just a hunch.... ?

I guess i missed the best part, dammit i was sure you would start after the summer, dunno why - i'm an idiot (of some sort). Never mind i can still join in.

There are still a lot of games and a long way to go before this one is over.

Jump in and have fun,literally!??

I like this game but when I played it last I felt like I was going to break the controller with all the back and forth movement

Could happen, me (or a comrade of mine) broke one playing Pac-Man (i cut the layers of one controller with the disc, to phase the inner side of the disc might help to avoid such also i placed a paper cutout above them this didn't affects sensitivity but helps to protect the foil below, the inner side of the disc is quite sharp and with some force it works like a circular cutter, since the cutting raises the resistance before it's completely cut through this controller showed burn marks like the one once was shown in this forum)

Impressive, Rick! Great times/distances!

Do you find using 2 controllers helps or do you have a different technique?

I made the 100m in 11:37 on my PAL console (that it is only 83% in speed helps a bit but still my forefinger hurts) but i was so frustrated that i couldn't repeat it and i shut off the console, however i gave jzIntv a chance and got very close. Now i'm a bit exhausted and most of all frustrated by this game.

As result of this a tip for those who like to or can only play emulated it is in general the method we used 40 years ago for "Track & Field".

create a keyboardhackfile and assign joystick button 1 (or 0) to PD0L_D_W and joystick button 2 (or 1) to PD0L_D_E, then use a lighter (best the well known BIC it has the proper size and rounded edges or any round lighter) and swipe back and forth over the buttons with the lighter. This might "kill" your joypad's buttons but they are easier and cheaper to replace as the Intellivision controller.

A tip for the console players, butter your finger (not THAT butter :) ) and use butter not a cream because the butter won't be absorbed by the skin so fast as cream will.

Also try to match the speed of the athlete, slower at start and then accelerate in the proper rhythm, when you are at top speed the athlete will literally run out of the screen.

Make every now and then a pause it helps a lot.

Unfortunately it looks that i can only play and participate today, tomorrow i have to visit a doctor and up to the weekend i will stay at home which means i won't have web access.
