It was a good overview of the series but appears to have been sponsored by Atari. Erin & Mike Matei also did a Co-op twitch stream earlier in the week. Smart of Atari to partner with folks like this for some exposure.

Here here, yeah this was really well done. I disagree with her on one thing though- I don't want to see Crystal Castles: Recharged, I'd rather see that launched as a new refreshed game on the VCS with new features and levels optimized for the classic controller, kind of like I think they're doing with Food Fight. I see immense potential there.

Minter did post a VCS on his Twitter feed not too long ago (June). Hopefully that portends good things to come.

Wouls be cool to ger some of his other classics.

Hmm, Defender 2000 is likely not going to happen, right?  As Williams made Defender, not sure how that worked for the Jag game though.  I have owned it for many moons, but never did play it much... no reason as my Jag is one of the few systems I have that are permanently set up.

June was a while ago, im hoping it’s coming soon then. Or maybe he’s working on a new Tempest with exclusive VCS content. I guess they wanted to get their Recharged series out first.

Would be nice to see them revive old Jaguar IPs as well and unreleased Jaguar projects that never seen the light of day happen on the VCS. So many possibilities there since the Jaguar’s life was cut so short. Would like to see Activision and Imagic games on board as well.

The problem with that one is that the game is not complete in the least.  All you do is walk around a city.  There are no other assets to interact with.  It would be easier for a programmer to start from scratch.

Here are some great games that Jeff Minter could port over:

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/15990/Everything_Everything/

If he wanted to give us a Defender fix without the licensing issues, he could revisit Llamazap from the Falcon.

It might be an unrealistic dream, but I would love Tempest 2000. I like T4K but still prefer 2000.

The cartridge version of Tempest 2000 has a better soundtrack. All they need is an HD remaster of T2K with that soundtrack and it would be perfect. Prefer it over the CD version.

For sure, but the concept is there to make an awesome game... unless they pulled a 'Cyberpunk 2077' ?

How about this for an idea. With Atari releasing physical 2600 media recently with Atari XP wouldn’t it be cool if Atari partnered with some homebrew developers to bring the recharged series to the 2600? Imagine the artwork for this series on physical carts? Obviously they would be de-makes but simplified versions of these games with no challenges but with powerups could be neat.

Q de-charged series?  I thi k it would be better if they released a Cart reader for the new VCS so we can play physical carts!  Hmm, since the system can direct boot off of a USB... they could embed a Stella, with minimal Linux and just boit straight into the game, like the olden days...

That would be great and I mean they sold 30 million Atari 2600s so why not give new life to their most successful console? New controllers and accessories would be awesome too. It would be great if we could get the Atari VCS classic joystick to work on the 2600.

Back from a holiday break with a look at Asteroids: Recharged!

Couldn't agree more.  Asteroids Recharged is the best of the Recharged series.  This game has quickly become one of my favorite versions of Asteroids due to the combination of the gameplay and Classic controller.  Happy gaming everyone!

Unfortunately Mike still doesn't want to own a VCS. He even made a comment on his podcast about "somebody should make paddle style games again". I guess he's not tracking that Atari did implement paddle controls into the classic controller...

You know, you can select the cartridge mod music on T4K instead of the CD soundtrack. At least you can on the PS4 version...

Damn, i'll have to check that out but I don't have a PS4. To be quite honest, I haven't really been a fan of Playstation consoles since the PS3. I'm more of a PC guy now. It's Atari or PC for me. I like the VCS because it can function as both. I keep the Atari VCS up in my living room and have a nice gaming PC down in my game room.
