Sneak and Peek-- does the moon ever set?

The moon moves VERY slowly throughout gameplay.  I was curious if it ever sets, or if it just gets stuck on the right hand side, or if it crashed the game because nobody ever played it that long.

I don't think I ever played it long enough to realize the moon even moved.

Play it in an emulator at top speed.  That should tell you one way or another.  I'm kind of curious myself now.

Are you ready for the answer? I played the game at 20x speed and it takes about 3m50s (230 seconds) to get to the "end" which equates to 230 sec x 20 = 1h16m40s (approx)

I still remember watching intently the attract mode in Sega’s Out Run (arcade version) and noticing that the CPU is slowly but surely making its way through the entire course, driving through all the stages, progressing past all the checkpoints, presumably arriving at the goal and showing the ending.

 

But alas, same as what happened here, after patiently waiting for it…
