I don't really get it as a worthwhile item, the Atari is nothing more than a feeder and a joystick, all the real work isn't done on the Atari.

 

It's clever and the guy clearly knows his stuff but it's a nigh on pointless item..

 

And he could have mentioned Altirra as the emulator, rather than just, "the emulator" as a professional courtesy as he names all the other dev environments. It's not a biggy but it would have been fair.

I'm sure, it should be considered a proof-of-concept. Who knows, what can be achieved with it.

To me, gets points for doing it over the parallel bus interface rather than joysick ports or SIO. Could do mass storage, or 80 column video this way too, maybe. Something like a parallel bus fujinet maybe, maybe could get good speed this way?

exactly as in the case of VBXE and Rapidus ? where additionally Atari works as a power supply.

 

while the idea itself seems very interesting to me, if it were combined with the idea of building a Tom8 cartridge, it would be much more useful to me.

I agree .. if only it had ever been completed...
