Atari XEGS key cap removal?

What would be the easiest way to remove keys from the XEGS? My keys are pretty dirty and would like to pop the off and clean them better then what a qtip is doing. (Particularly the space bar)

To remove key caps, you need key cap remover

You can make one with two pieces of wire, google will help you.

I just did this to a XE keyboard by pulling them off by fingers.

 

 

I had the keyboard out not in the case.

I did it by just pulling the caps off with my fingers

try to keep the key level as you lift - i.e. un-tilted

there is a bit of resistance (so they dont just fall off) but youll get the hang of it after 20 or 30 ?

Thanks everyone, with a little persistence and advice from all of you, I got them all off safely and got them soaking in some soapy water as I type this.

I went about this differently , removed the bottom plate from the keyboard , removed mylar/springs/rubber cups.
Put the top of the keyboard complete with key caps in the dishwasher, removing before the fry cycle.
Spotless keyboard after that

This is a popular method these days for cleaning up old plastics however proceed with caution it is shocking how powerful the chemicals in some dishwasher tabs are and there have been horror stories.
