+acadiel
A big thanks to Louis Guion for letting me rescue this. A lot of it came from the late John Guion. Also, a TI monitor, PEB, and a couple RAM disks, and more chips than I know what to do with. 5

wierd_w
Is that an exceptionally rare hexbus video device for the TI Portable computers tucked in there? A full disassembly of its rom would be glorious, if it is.

+Vorticon
Can the video device be cloned? I know there was talk by Brain to develop one but it does not look like it panned out... Also I saw a manual for the Printer 80 but not the printer itself. Was that included in the haul? I have been looking for one for a while with no luck...
+FarmerPotato
I would gladly help you find a use for those chips I think the 3456 is the video chip for the hexbus display?
unhuman
That's amazing! What's the battery powered thing? Those batteries look OLD and didn't leak! And, what works 83.35% of the time?
Opry99er
Howie, I think that's a PGRAM
matthew180
That is an amazing haul! That test cart that has "4: PDP TEST" on the label is interesting. I wonder if that refers to a DEC PDP-11 computer? Maybe used for writing initial software or prototyping? Edit: Interesting to see the "9118A" used in a TI product. That was the later version of the 9918A. Edited September 10, 2021 by matthew180

Those were used in Hexbus peripherals - even though they are the same CPU as the CC40, once in “embedded mode”, Stephen Reid mentioned, you really can’t get to the 2K ROM or hook it up and read it out. This being a prototype, I don’t know, though. There’s no data sheet on it.

That was the later version of the 9918A. It’s likely the Corcomp peripheral diagnostic program. I haven’t tried it yet. Also, the Hexbus video controller having the TMP9118NL is kind of neat. I wonder what made it a prototype in 1983? I notice it only has 4K of 4116s attached.

Look carefully - they're 4416 - each 16K x 4 bits.
jbdigriz
Wow... I see some of the black foam is beginning to crumble. That should all be replaced with the pink stuff for long-term storage. The black stuff is known to corrode pins as it decomposes. I see a couple of 9903s in there. Was John working on a bisync conversion of the RS232 card, maybe? Has anyone else done that? +FarmerPotato
I too noticed the 9903s. I’ve not been able to find one but I’m satisfied with 9902s. The 5502 is a bubble memory controller aka TMS9916! https://www.lo-tech.co.uk/downloads/manuals/texus-instruments/TIB0203.pdf the purple ceramic chips 3011? Not sure of the markings. My guess—small RAMs?

My guess—small RAMs? These? TMS3064 = 64k CCD memory devices, although TI called them 65K. Organized as 16 4K shift registers.
