tanuki
Hello everyone. You have probably already seen our encyclopedic cards in some of our games. They are postcard sized cards. They are part of our extensive project of encyclopedic cards about the whole video game, and they are collectible! We are starting a Kickstarter campaign very soon. In this campaign we propose 12 packs of cards on various machines, from the NES to the SNES through the Mega Drive/Genesis. But we also wanted to offer Vectrex, Atari 2600 and Intellivision fans to be part of the adventure, since we are fans ourselves and we've published games on these supports. For this occasion, we suggest you to support our campaign, either by buying the regular packs, or by buying the packs of these three machines. And since we know that collectors like little extras, these packs will be limited to 150 copies. For the moment this topic is only a presentation, you will know more when the KS campaign will be opened but here is what we can already say: -The packs will contain 40 cards, -You can have the cards in English, Spanish, Italian or French, -The 40 cards will not be all the same in each pack. Most of them will be, but there will be different cards and variations. -By financing 6 or 12 packs (which include machines other than Atari 2600, Intellivision and Vectrex) you will have access to bonuses and a club to win more cards and participate in various things. The cards will be supplied in illustrated boxes. Regarding these illustrations, apart from the NES and Game & Watch volumes, which are already made, we will make them in partnership with the backers who will be able to suggest their ideas and even win special cards by doing so. Here is just a sample of the cards, NOTE AGAIN THAT THE ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE BOXES ARE NOT WHAT YOU CAN SEE HERE!
HolmesA8
While cool, I think having to buy multiple packs to get the whole set of cards is a mistake, especially when the total number of packs is also limited. I'm out.
tanuki
You can buy only the Atari 2600 pack if you want We can't offer a complete pack as there are hundred of games on the console + hundred of accessories, companies, etc ^^. TwoShedsWilson
I'm not clear with what exactly you're offering. Are these fixed-content packs? So you buy the Atari 2600 pack you have all those cards or is it a blind-buy with a random assortment of a larger set? If it's the latter I am definitely out. Keatah
Blind buy.. On 9/14/2021 at 7:32 AM, tanuki said: The 40 cards will not be all the same in each pack. I tend to buy things over time, especially if it's a collection.
tanuki
It's a trading card collection But there is a list of all cards for each pack and we guarantee that the same card will never appear twice in the 35 main cards of each pack. So, if you buy the pack for the Atari 2600 you'll have 35 different cards related to the Atari 2600 and 5 cards (perhaps Atari 2600 perhaps not) you can trade if you want. Superkitten
Question: How did you choose which games / hardware to include in the Atari set? I'm not sure I need a card for kids controller and a card for Alpha Beam with Ernie, among others. I realize people's tastes vary, and this could be a perfect selection for most. What I consdier to be shovelware might be someone else's holy grail. I realize this might be designed this way in anticipation of making additional atari sets and not wanting to leave the less-popular ones for the later sets. I do see an attempt at a balanced selection from various eras and categories, however - though nothing from Imagic, for example. I've thought about how it might be nice to have reference cards with info on game selection, difficulty switch settings and controls for the Atari games - something quick and durable no bigger than the catridges. The previews for the cards are too small to really see what is offered - I assume just screenshots and a concept blurb? I think the confusion people may be having is that they're looking for confirmation that if they buy the $15 Atari pack, they will get the complete set of 35 Atari cards for the volume. $15 for a nice Atari collectible isn't too bad - good luck with it! tanuki
Thank you for your feedback Superkitten! First of all let's be clear: for 15€ you get an Atari 2600 pack with ALL the cards listed. The cards do exist, we have already sold some in France But I understand that when visiting the campaign you may have the impression that it is only a concept. As for the selection, we tried to put both cult games, unusual games, historically interesting games and accessories or people. Of course it is not an Atari 2600 but we have made available the front of 3 cards which I think are well readable. I take note that this is not enough!
