+bf2k+
I am trying to test a stock NTSC 600XL to see if it works. It does not have a monitor port. I don't have a TV with an antenna hookup on it. Any ideas as to how I can test this?
gilsaluki
you must have a TV or monitor with an RF input to see, hear, touch the built-in Self Test functions (memory check, keyboard check, sound check).
gilsaluki
I should say. need a TV or monitor with a cable connection (RF to Coax adapter..cheap, about $2.00)
+bf2k+
I have the RF-Coax adapter. I can try it on my Big TV. I know that has a Coax input. Thanks!
Peri Noid
It's most probably a digital signal only connection. It is possible to get a mono (Luma) signal pretty easily from the motherboard. But since I don't have an NTSC version schematics, I cannot find it. In the PAL version it's available at the emiter leg of the Q6 transistor (just needs additional 75R resistor). +ZuluGula
If you can find VCR (the tape mechanism doesn't have to work), you can use it's tuner section to convert RF signal to composite.

I hadn't thought of that, but could you just pull the audio and video off the modulator input an rig up a poor test cable. The

This particular 600XL is in "like-new" condition in the original box (I'm the 2nd owner; original owner is a friend) which is why I hesitate to open it up and mess with it.
