New Commodore CTab-64 laptop on Kickstarter

Hi guys,

I was on Kickstarter earlier today finishing my pledge for Fusion Retro magazine, when I came across this.

Apparently it's a new Commodore called the CTab-64 and is designed by a group of engineers who have

taken over the Commodore brand.

It seems like it’s a couple of people trying to steal the brand and build things using it.

Commodore as a brand is not strong enough, only a few die hard enthusiasts would be in the market. Once you add 64 to it, the entire concept will be more generally recognizable.

 

But is that so, that a group of engineers have acquired the brand name? At least pretty much all of the IP seems to sit with Cloanto, but I understand that they never held the rights to the brand. On the other hand, we've seen this claim before, people pretending they own the rights to something within the Commodore realm, while in practice they don't.
