Mockduck #3 Posted August 9, 2021 This video is from Pixel games, and they stated in the comments that it would be coming to the VCS "if approved by Atari."

Then again, I'm a sucker for a decent platformer. Not seeing WIP news up on their website yet, but it's early days.

Can't see why Atari would not "approve" the game since there very little confirmed pipeline games coming. Sounds like an excuse not to confirm they really are bringing it to the VCS. I might offer them to make a new one... 😅 2
justclaws #9 Posted October 16, 2021 Pixel Games confirmed the new game for the Atari VCS. https://pixel.lu/donutdodo/index.html Here's the video on YouTube! This video shows some more about the gameplay, with more BIG challenges! 3
tripled79 #10 Posted October 16, 2021 Looks like a combination of Donkey Kong, Popeye, Mario Bros. all rolled into one game. The very three games that got me into gaming. I can't wait...
justclaws #11 Posted November 10, 2021 Another video via "Games Just Wanna Have Fun" about this game. Pixel Games also confirmed again a December release for the VCS. 🙂 (Their other games for the VCS continue to be in-development, also confirmed.)
ColecoGamer #12 Posted December 18, 2021 I am really excited about the release of Donut DoDo. It’s like a combination of Donkey Kong and Popeye, all rolled into one. It really does resemble a lost arcade game from the 1980s. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the developer will be making his release window of December. Initially on his YouTube page, he had mentioned that he was still waiting on approval from Atari. During his latest video upload of Donut DoDo, the developer had mentioned that Atari approved Donut DoDo for release on the VCS, but that was some time ago. There hasn’t been any updates on his Twitter account either. Any idea if the game was delayed until January 2022?
ColecoGamer #13 Posted December 18, 2021 It just dawned on me that I should have asked about Donut DoDo here, instead of starting a new thread. My apologies! Originally, Donut DoDo had a release date of December 1st, but unfortunately that never happened. Just recently (after commenting on his latest Donut DoDo gameplay video), the developer said Atari approved the game for release on the VCS, and all that was left to do, was to add some finishing touches to the game before releasing it in December. This was about a month ago. Does anyone know if Donut DoDo was delayed due to the Holidays? I’m just excited to play it.

Tony Barnes #15 Posted December 24, 2021 This is one of the games I'm most looking forward to. It *really* has that late-80's feel, like Donkey Kong, Kangaroo, Arabian, Popeye and other single-screen platformers with great art!
+joeatari1 #16 Posted December 27, 2021 Someone on Discord stated that the Dev and Atari had a disagreement and now it is not coming to the VCS. Sorry I can't recall who said that. I wish Atari would validate these things. 1

Hmm that's interesting and a little surprising, considering the same company has already released a couple of games on the VCS. We shall see...

I really wanted this game on my VCS!
jbmindtrick #19 Posted December 27, 2021 That really sucks. I was really looking forward to this game. With so few games out on the VCS this would have been a welcome addition. Atari, figure this out! Hate to say it but you need to create incentives for games and gamers not disincentives. It’s not circa 1980/81.
bugcatcher88 #20 Posted December 27, 2021 This was one of my most anticipated games on VCS. This really sucks. I wonder what the deal is.
+joeatari1 #21 Posted December 27, 2021 Again guys, this is hearsay from someone on Discord. I don't know if it is true or not but as I recall it was one of the better informed persons on there, so I think the info has some validity. I hope he is wrong though as I was looking forward to this one as well.
Atari_JaguarVCS #22 Posted December 27, 2021 I see the game is down on Steam for a February 2nd 2022 release date so maybe it’s just been delayed on the VCS and will launch along side the PC version in February. If it doesn’t come out on the VCS I’ll just grab it on Steam and run it on my VCS with Windows 10, it looks like a lot fun.

Both sides are interested in making money so I have a hard time believing a deal won't/can't get done.

ColecoGamer #25 Posted January 14 I wish the developer of Donut DoDo would chime in snd explain what is happening with his game. His Twitter and YouTube account have been eerily quiet.
